In the village of Odogunyan, a chilling cry echoed through the streets: "Chase him!" The Baale's urgent command sparked a frenzy as the people pursued a lone figure from the rival Ogara clan. The Ogaras, notorious for their past attempts to conquer Ilu-Oro, had returned to wreak havoc on Odogunyan. Every fortnight, the Ogaras donned terrifying costumes, masquerading as monsters to intimidate the Itakumos into surrendering their goods. Their rafia garments seemed to embody an otherworldly evil, striking fear into the hearts of the villagers. Despite their bravery, the Odogunyans failed to repel the Ogaras, as they believed the Ogaras were spirits and didn't bother fighting back.

Seeking guidance, they consulted Amusan Oje, a young herbalist who had inherited the legacy of the revered Baba Oje. His wisdom, however, was initially met with skepticism due to his youth. Amusan's enigmatic warning, "the leaf suffers from the insect inhabiting it," fell on deaf ears. The Ogaras continued their reign of terror until the day they crossed a line. One of their monsters attempted to rape the Baale's daughter, Omosalewa. In a shocking twist, another monster intervened, fighting the rapist with ferocity. The others tried to stop them, but he pushed them off and dragged Salewa away. Without hesitation, she followed him, and they kept running until they reached a clearing. The Ogaras were waiting for them there, and a fierce battle ensued. As their masks were torn off, a stunning revelation emerged: it was none other than Kilani, Sewa's fiancé and heir to the neighboring village of Itakumo. Everyone now realized that they were mere men, not spirits.

As the truth came to light, the Baale's barn overflowed with the spoils of the Ogaras' defeat, and the high priest's storehouse was now full, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.
