Stop exposing your ignorance. The person you are defending has refused to answer any direct question for obvious reasons.

go through that thread you should learn a thing or two. Shalom!

Stop being a nuisance & acting dumb.

The bands had being in existence before the increase, more areas where simply added to band A.

The areas with band A already had the supposed 20-24 hours light so the increase in tariff would certainly lead to an increase in cost of production.

What justifies an over 300% increase at this time?

Some of you open your mouths to spew nonsense just because you want to show support for government no matter how stup!d and irrational the policy is.

If you agree, more areas were added, don't you think that will lead to a reduction in production cost in those areas compared to running alternatives?

Besides, if you were in the know, you will know that power supply has been epileptic to the former band A areas prior to the increment. They are not immune from grid collapses, you know.

So has the power supply significantly improved to those areas to justify a price increase?

Is it not the same epileptic power supply sane people are complaining about that it does not justify such astronomical increase in tariff?

On one hand, you agree power supply is bad, but you still try to justify a 300% increase in tariffs without significant improvement in supply.

Yes power supply has significantly improved since the band rates were announced. You think I’ll be going back and forth on what I don’t know.

This is a public forum if there are others with a contrary experience despite living in band A areas especially in Lagos pls come forward.

The two discos also provide daily & weekly feeders update on their socials. You can look them up.

You obviously are going back and forth with little knowledge. Do you stay everywhere at the same time?

Do you think Lagos is the start all and end all of Nigeria? So because you believe power supply has improved in Lagos, then it has improved in Nigeria.

Do you know the number of areas that have faulty transformers but the Discos would calculate that they gave them light for over 20 hours?

See, believe what you want. You support the increase. Good for you. You agree that cost of production has reduced. Good for you. Let us see what the market says about it all.

The confidence of your ignorance is ridiculous. You’ve provided nothing to support your position just assumptions. You’ve no idea how power supply is measured there’s an existing reporting framework and that is published weekly which tracks power supply to consumers by hrs & other metrics.

Stop outsourcing your capacity to think everything I’ve mentioned can be verified on the internet.

Empty drums & loud noises.

Tracks & metrics by hours, yet they have what is called 'estimated billing'. Some of you are just flat out dumb.

Anyway, the market will tell if the increased cost of power would lead to a reduction in prices of goods & services.

See attached. IE publishes this daily if unable to deliver 20 hours+ supply to their any of their now over 100 Band A feeders users from about 45 feeders in march.

Also, you can track monthly usage of each discos from NERC see link below for IE and you can also check for other discos to cure your ignorance about the power supply situation especially in other parts of the country.

Are you really this dense or you just feel like blabbing?

Are bands a new development? Areas have been banded for some years, so what's your excitement about bands? Are you just knowing about them?

The issue is that the astronomical increase in tariffs cannot be justified and the increased tariffs would in turn increase cost of production. Simple. Is that so hard to grasp?

Obviously, you support the increase and you are probably happy, so why are you having headache for those who feel the increase is unwarranted at this time?

Again, let us see if the increase in tariffs would lead to a reduction in prices of goods and services like the minister said and you seem to support.

Unlike you that deflects from questions, I’ll answer your questions all over again. Just maybe this time you’ll understand.

1. Band-A is not new; I’ve admitted that already. FYI, it was called bilateral service agreement, but the service was terrible and barely up 12 hours as of March 2024. However, following the Band-A pricing, a lot more areas have been added. For example, Ikeja Electric increased from 45 feeders to 104 feeders, with significant improvement in supply, often exceeding the 20-hour target.

2. Even if you consider the increment astronomical, it’s still less than the cost of running diesel or petrol, which means net savings for all users.

3. I support anything that brings sustainable progress for Nigerians. Anyone who thinks a stable power supply at the Band-A rates will increase their production cost has no business with grid power. There are cheaper alternatives, but it’s all a function of scale.

I’m more than disappointed in the quality of your discourse as it posits no logic, facts, or rigor. My response is solely to enlighten other well-meaning citizens.

What is disappointing is your inability to understand simple economics and facts.

Even you have admitted that as at March 2024, the so called band A users were not getting value for money. Now the band has been increased by 300%. How won't that lead to an increase in prices of goods & services?

You claim that power supply has improved. A very myopic view because you think the world starts & ends in Ikeja. Yet there are numerous complains even from the same Ikeja area.

https://businessday.ng/news/article/electricity-consumers-trapped-in-discos-net-as-complaints-pile/?amp

Would the astronomical increase lead to a fall in prices of goods & services? You are saying yes. That's fine, let's see how it goes. It's been over a month since the increase, have prices dropped?

Again, I don't know what your headache is. Enjoy your increase, let those who have issues with it talk.

You can enlighten whom you want. Create a thread and enlighten whomever suits your fancy, you guys did worse for the last 8 years supporting dumb and ill-thought out policies, so nothing new.

So during the period where there was no value for money did production stop? At what cost? Vs now? Which is cheaper?

I see you’re putting some efforts gradually! The image I previously attached shows IE indicting themselves but in your ignorance won’t let you see it.

You’ve not added one dime of value to this discourse!
No clue yet vocal with no solutions. Your understanding of arithmetics, logic & basic-micro-economics leaves a lot to be desired.

I don't need to point out the obvious confusion and illogicality of your position. You were obviously running around like a headless chicken.

It is glaring that you are a byproduct of the both the failing education system in Nigeria and the vile sociopolitical value system where a few vocal and empowered minions are used to disseminate thoughtless and inhumane policies.

That someone would think that a 300% increase in electricity tariff would lead to a reduction in prices of goods & services when the records show a continuing declining power generation is just bonkers.

Hopefully you won’t deflect again —what’s the cost of producing 1kw via diesel or petrol (include maintenance & servicing) vs cost of band A?

Do your own calculations. After making the price of diesel & pms also rise crazily you people now want to use it to justify increase in electricity.

Funny people.

You & your minister say the increase in electricity tariff would lead to reduction in goods & services, so let's wait and see.

Look who is talking about responsibility. Are you not responsible enough to answer your own questions? Afterall, you are the one defending nonsense, so do your own nonsense calculations.

We are still waiting to see how a 300% hike in electricity tariff would lead to a reduction in prices of goods & services according to you & the privileged minister who has no idea what it means to work hard and build from the ground up.

This is like the 3rd or 4th time you have 'ended' the discussion, yet you keep coming back with no sense because your ego demands you must have the last word on someone elses comment. I know your type & I am here for you.

P.S.
I pray your lack of empathy and commonsense does not extend beyond you. Nigeria has enough nitwits as it stands already.
