Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in the weekly cabinet session held on Wednesday, attacked Egypt's decision to join South Africa's request at the International Court of Justice to issue orders against Israel.

“If Egypt gets involved in this matter, it will be a very dangerous matter,” Netanyahu said. The Israeli government decided to form a team of ministers, led by Justice Minister Yariv Levin, to formulate response procedures to the Palestinian Authority in the wake of the United Nations General Assembly’s decision to upgrade the status of Palestine and grant full rights to the Palestinian state.

The team will include Foreign Minister Israel Katz and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who said that "the time has come for the Palestinian Authority to collapse economically." Netanyahu instructed Levin and National Security Council Chairman Tzachi Hanegbi to formulate a package of measures against the Palestinian Authority within one day.

The decision was taken after Israeli ministers proposed harsh measures against the Palestinian Authority due to the UN resolution. Minister Miri Regev said, "We must deal them a severe blow that will shake their being," while Minister Orit Strzok said, "A package of measures must be formulated that will hurt them and impose a heavy price on them."

Justice Minister Yariv Levin said, “We are captive to the position of the security level that cooperation with the Palestinian Authority benefits us, at a time when the situation is worsening, and we will pay a heavy price for that. The damage caused by the Palestinian Authority exceeds its benefit, and therefore its senior officials must be harmed and a price must be imposed on the ground.” Especially through settlement.

During the meeting, Netanyahu attacked the senior ministers in the war government who demanded that the Gaza Strip be handed over to the Palestinian Authority, in reference to Defense Minister Yoav Galant, who warned against Israeli military rule in Gaza. Netanyahu said, "There are those in the War Administration Council who say that the Palestinian Authority will enter Gaza, and I prevent that. They have the right to say what they want, but for me, I am not ready to accept that happening."

Benny Gantz, Ghadi Eisenkot, and Gallant, the targets of Netanyahu's attack, did not attend the meeting. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that its announcement of intervention in South Africa’s lawsuit against Israel “comes in light of the worsening severity and scope of Israeli attacks against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.”

In a similar context, the Israeli occupation government announced on Wednesday that it had asked Egypt to open the Rafah crossing “to Gazans wishing to flee the war,” but the request was rejected. Occupation government spokesman David Mincer said in a statement that Israel will eliminate the remaining four Hamas brigades in Rafah, but it will not necessarily eliminate all Hamas fighters in the city.

Occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu portrays the invasion of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip as an important turning point in eliminating Hamas and achieving “absolute victory.” On Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked Egypt to reopen the Rafah border crossing, considering that Cairo is holding Gaza residents “hostage” because of its refusal to cooperate with Israel regarding the main crossing for aid.

In an interview, Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel supports “the flow of humanitarian aid to the maximum extent” through the Rafah crossing. Netanyahu continued: “We want to see it open,” adding, “I hope we can reach an understanding” with Egypt. He said that the crossing would have been opened "yesterday" if the matter had been in Israel's hands, stressing that "the problem is not ours. We are not obstructing the opening of the Rafah crossing." He added, "I hope that Egypt will take into account what I am saying now."

He continued, "No one should hold the Palestinian population hostage in any way, and I am not holding them hostage. I don't think anyone should do that." Yesterday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry accused Israel of “twisting the facts” and “evading responsibility” for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, in response to statements by its Foreign Minister, Israel Katz, in which he considered that Egypt was responsible for opening the Rafah crossing for aid to enter the Gaza Strip. .

Shukri said in a statement distributed by his office in Cairo: “In response to the statements of the Israeli Foreign Minister demanding the reopening of the Rafah crossing and holding Egypt responsible for the occurrence of a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, Egypt affirms its categorical rejection of the policy of distorting the facts and disavowing responsibility followed by the Israeli side,” adding that “Israel is solely responsible for the humanitarian catastrophe that the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are currently facing.”
