I Know there are many experienced NL’ers who are savvy in making money online & I need your help. This is actually my first thread/post on NL though I have been a frequent guest for about 4 years.
I need to be sure of how much I will be earning monthly online. I have researched enough to know that owning a niche website is one of the best & easiest ways to make money online.
My website is near completion, my niche is targeted towards Nigerians so as my advertising. I expect to get at least 500 visitors pay day. I will invest some money to register, host & advertise my site. I intend to use adsense and affiliate marketing to generate income from my site. In terms affiliate marketing I know its difficult to convince Nigerians to buy things online so I’ll be using strictly PPL ads. I really need to know if my monthly income from this could be at least $2000, also I need to know the best affiliate programs that accept and pay Nigerians without stress (I prefer mastercard/ wire transfer payment).

its good to work online, but it take sometime to master any skill depending on your quick understanding ,dedication and sacrifice,just like any bisness offline.

Let me don't lie to you pal. Affiliate marketing and adsense will not make the kind of money you dream of making! The only thing that can make you real cash is information marketing! See this example; a blogger started blogging ....and for the next 5month he made just $200?-- through Adsense but a smart info marketer sold an ebook 'hot to kiss your wife well' price it =N=5,500 and continue to place ads on d newspaper,facebook,google ads. And over the next three months 1000 people bought and PAYED 5500 IN HIS ACCOUNT! The maths is =N=5,500 X 1000 => =N=5,000,000. Don't let any one decive you in to adsense except u got a site as big as www.nairaland.com! (to build one will take you nothing less than 2 years of hard work )

@Nairalander i will advise you to read everthing you need know about parsuasion ,copywriting , writing , turning reader to rapid buyers and most importantly u must limit your online biz to naija (at least for a start) and i assure you, you will succeed!

Well, it depends on the niche you chosed, if it's saturated or not(like the "make money online" or "weight loss" niche), if its profitable or not (some niches are a waste of time), also your website content matters ALOT.

Affiliate marketing and Nigeria are not best of friends, I'll advise you stick to adsense. PPL or CPA ads are not targeted towards Nigerians (I'm a cpa marketer, so I know).

From adsense alone? (Given that your site is a nigerian site, targeted towards Nigerians) it will take you months of hardwork and frustration before you start earning that amount from adsense alone.

You can make it online if want to. Making money online is not hard, as long as you are determined, smart(business wise) and aggresive. If you have these qualities, you'll be a millionaire within a short period of time(thats a guaranty).
Another advice, forget adsense for now. Go for the cash cow which is affiliate marketing and forget about these nigerian website stuff. It will frustrate you, become an affiliate marketer, be smart and aggresive. The sky will be your limit

By the way, I'll like to know the niche you picked. Thats a major success factor right there, if you picked the wrong niche, just forget it.

Adsense is a bit risky and depends ONLY on the amount of traffic your websites receive. Personally I don't trust very much in this method.
Affiliate Marketing on the other hand, is the way to go.

You can create a very successful and professional online career as an online marketer. You have to learn a lot of things, it is really not that easy to start making money online, but it is really possible. And that's exactly the reason it is worth it, there is not yet College degrees for Network Marketers, but I am sure there will be in the next years, this trend is going up each day and a lot of people is starting to take its advantages.

I don’t think I need to own a site as big as nairaland, here’s an illustration; Seun & his team do more work on nairaland in a week than Linda does in a month on her blog. Yet she earns more monthly or so I heard. Info-marketing on the other hand works well in western countries because their peeps are ready to buy stuff online, unlike in Nigeria where most people are not willing to pay for even a book of N200 not to talk of N5,500. I hail Gbenga Aijotan and his likes, boooy that guy works HARD!!!
BTW is nairaland making money elsewhere apart from adsense??

You see what I mean, the stress you'll have to go through to put this site up and running(printing banners, flyers,t-shirts, writing lots of articles etc) if you put that energy, time and money into internet marketing, you'll be made.

Only about 3 percent of them. Haven't you clicked on cpa offer before and they tell you bluntly "offer not available in your country". Internet marketing like any other offline business is centered on thing - leads, or customers. Nigeria is a poor country, only about 0.5 percent of Nigerians shop online and Nigerian traffic is not worth anything in the internet marketing world. Clickbank, paypal, ebay, etc dont accept Nigerians not only because we are fraudulent, but because we're both fraudulent and have nothing to offer. Hence we're not valuable or meaningful customers. I hope you get the point.

Nairaland is a forum, Linda Ikeji is a blog. We ( the forumites) generate the content on this site, while Linda's creates her own content. I don't know if Linda makes more money than Seun, but I believe Seun has an upper hand given that he has more traffic and he doesn't create content, he only moderates. Nairaland will never lack content, linda ikeji will.
I don't know if there are any other means which he makes dough from this site, thats up to him. I do jealous him though (hope I won't be banned for this)

Hmmmm! Well as a matter of fact, traffic is quite easy and you don't have to pay for it. Sometimes you do not need to worry about content. Allow people do the content development for you and you make your cool cash. I am doing same already but I am moving on to something new because my methods are becoming saturated. I am working on giving away free website to people, just like blogger.com and . Mine will have more options and better functions than theirs. Do you know the funniest thing? The website development is almost ready. I haven't and did not pay a dime for it. People have already done the work for me...Hahaha. Anyway that for instance is going to be quite easy in making money from because everyone needs a website/ blog for his/her business. Where I make the money? That is my little secret.

To start with once your on-site SEO is okay, watch your traffic steadily increase. Everything lies in your keyword research. Off-site SEO includes getting backlinks from other sources.

This brings me to talking about writing articles. Well that is good you know, provided you can churn out such articles quite fast. Like i said i don't do anything.. I let others do it for me. There was a time I needed article for a certain niche back in 2011. I got it written for me at $3.50 for about 300+ articles. I didn't have time to start designing a webpage so i used a tool that all i needed to do was put in the folder address where the articles were (in .txt format) and it generated a fine looking .html file for me i put my adsense in it and uploaded... back then I made a lot from adsense. I am going to replicate that soon.

well all niches have aspect that pay high.. look closely and you will find it. but that is where you missing the point. adesense is about consistency whether high or low paying keyword. as a matter of fact, it is those ones with high payin keywords that gets slow traffic.
