Obi Insists Coastal Highway Project Is Not A Priority by Bobloco: 9:25am On May 03
Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Mr Peter Obi, has reacted to allegations of incitement from the federal government over his position that the trillions of Naira Coastal Highway Project is not a priority in today’s Nigeria.

Obi who insisted that his position on it remains said that allegations of his inciting the people are divisive actions to distract from the main issue he raised that such a project now will lead to loss of jobs and will increase hunger and spread poverty in a troubled land already.

He also said that priority should be put on internal roads first to move the economy.
The former Anambra State governor also took time to react to the demolition which took place during his tenure and said the circumstances were different and wondered why they were not addressing the issue of poverty that is spreading like wildfire.

“It has come to my attention, and I strongly denounce the distortion of facts surrounding my actions and statements during my tenure as governor of Anambra State, particularly concerning the ongoing demolitions for the construction of the Lagos-Calabar coastal super highway. I aim to address these issues directly, devoid of political rhetoric, to ensure clarity for all.

“Let me be unequivocal: during my governorship, I made it abundantly clear that all structures obstructing existing roads and lacking approval would be removed. The circulated video clearly stated this, and I only initiated removal when construction had already commenced. Any insinuation otherwise is a blatant misrepresentation of the truth. I challenge anyone to verify and show me where the demolished structures on existing roads or ongoing businesses were not encroaching on the road and built without government approval while I served as governor.

“To provide further clarity, consider concrete examples. I decisively demolished the Onitsha North local government headquarters situated on the only existing stadium, relocated, and built a brand new structure for the local government office away from the stadium. This action was necessary to restore the stadium to its original purpose as a sporting facility for the people. Subsequently, the stadium was rightfully named after the first owner of the first football club figure in Nigerian sports, Chuba Ikpeazu, as a tribute to our commitment to honoring our heroes,” Obi said.

A statement issued by one of the Obi’s media aides Dr Yunusa Tanko, quoted him as saying that the Onitsha South Stadium, the sole local playing ground for the community, was converted into a local government office.

“Recognising the importance of recreational spaces, I reverted it to its original status by demolishing and relocating the local government office. I then renovated the stadium and renamed it after the longest-serving Green Eagles captain, Godwin Achebe.

“My actions were strategic, aiming to prioritize the repair and maintenance of existing infrastructure over projects that risked disruption and destruction. This approach aimed to safeguard the livelihoods of Nigerians and ensure the efficient use of resources.

“It’s crucial to clarify the false comparisons drawn between my actions on Brewery Road and the current coastal super highway project. I never proposed creating a new road that would disrupt existing structures. Instead, I focused on removing obstructions on existing roads to enhance accessibility and safety for all.

“The ongoing destruction and disruption of jobs and livelihoods associated with the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road construction sharply contrasts with my administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure while minimising adverse impacts on communities,” he said.

Your Excellency we know you, we know your antecedents. We know your leadership traits which is leadership by personal example.

Even though when you were governor, you were not really known but the facts and realities of your strides are avaiable and verifiable.

Leadership is not propagandas, lies and crime and cluelessness.
Leadership is not taking advantage of hungry and jobless young men and women and hiring them to litter the public space with fake news and non existing things.
Leadership is not travelling from pillar to post Wasting tax payers money in the name of begging for investors while the once who have been around for decades and centuries are running away.
Leadership is not putting your personal intrest and gains inplace of national intrest.

Leadership is seeable and feelable sacrifices and passion to see your nation work.
Leadership is stepping down from your high horse and coming down to the people you lead and show them, that we in this together and will come out together.
Leadership is carefully prioritizing the needs of a nation and people and solving them according to their order of priorty.

Leadership is peter obi

Tinubu mandate is a pain, curse and disaster to Nigeria and Nigerians.

The truth is that the project isn't a priority, but watch Tinubu miscreants invade this thread like hordes of cows invading a farmland to vent their anger and frustrations on a man who has no hand in their present predicament.

Surely not a priority. A good project but not a priority only for the wise to understand.

It's like when you are living in a leaky roof and decided to start a new duplex project that will last 5 years while allowing your roof to continue leaking in the small house.

Almost all FG roads are death traps and economy messed up but our target is a project that will take all our money.

What happened to Nigeria to Niger rail project? Completed?
How can these projects improve the suffering of Nigerians in the immidiate?
Nigerians should be smart enough to know when projects are done to get political favour. This project is just one of it.

All over Europe, the masses are discussing economy. Why are we always deceived by white elephant project? I can bet you that another president will come to power and still be using this project as a political campaign. To finish it, wahala. Has Tinubu finished all FG highways in the SS? Do SS have all FG roads in good condition? Are these roads not what the people are using now? What of FG roads in SW? Completed? Are the roads in good shape now? What of the north and SE? All FG roads good now?

There is a reason we need a successful business man to run this country. This is just one of the reason. APC run Nigeria based on people sentiment and never achieve results.

The entire South South is fully in support of this legacy project, period.

In 2001, he said, Tinubu, then the governor of Lagos State, convened a conference of governors from the south-east and south-south in Marina, where the necessity of constructing the superhighway was discussed.

“Mr President, I want to applaud your courage and determination for the development of the Niger Delta region as exemplified by the Federal Executive Council’s approval of the construction of Lagos-Port Harcourt-Calabar Coastal Superhighway,” Ibori said.

“I recall that as governors, we deliberated on the need for the construction of the Coastal road during our meeting of South West and South-South governors which you hosted in Marina as Lagos state governor in 2001.”

https://www.thecable.ng/governors-mulled-construction-in-2001-ibori-lauds-tinubu-on-lagos-ph-road-approval/amp/

“I assure you that we will not only endorse this project but will fully extend our support to ensure its completion especially at the areas of the Niger Delta where it will pass through.”

Like Oliver Twist, he said, “The Niger Delta people are seriously requesting Mr. President to give priority to the very important project which will no doubt cater for the security and welfare of our people having regards to the role of the region in supporting the economy of the entire country.”

Clark said the Coastal Road, therefore, “could not be a substitution to our immediate requirement."

This Mumu ginigory agulu man is very shallow.

The construction of the coastal road doesn't mean reconstruction of other roads is not happening, so why all these unnecessary shalaye....It's foolish to think one project must be completed before another project can start.

If you had listen to several briefing by Umahi, it has been established right from the start of the project that construction is going to be done in phases and that of calabar and westward is starting in July.

They are not the project sponsor and would have to wait till July. It's only about 8 weeks away.

In his head, he is mixing up routine maintenance work with new capital work indeed.
If other leaders had a low IQ like Obi, we won't have a 2nd Niger bridge, 3rd mainland bridge, Ikoyi suspension bridge, free trade zones, new power substations, new highways, new schools e.t.c no wonder never built a single school in Anambra for 8 years while the childbirth rate kept increasing.

The Koko of the matter is that they are in support of the project unlike the agulu messiah that want it stopped. Whether it starts in Warri or Calabar or Ogun waterside is secondary.

His mentor Ojukwu blew up the first Onitsha Niger Bridge only 18 months after it was Commissioned
by Prime Minister Balewa whom Major Ifeajuna also from Onitsha assassinated less than 2 weeks
afterwards Instead of showing appreciation

How do you expect Peter Obi to value any Infrastructure especially when it is not a brewery ?
