Maybe you should make yourself the subject of one of your poems and get back to us. We'll take your word for it. Honest

Heck yes, death is scary! But unlike many things in life like losing your job or having your heart broken, death happens only once. I guess it's the fear of the unknown that makes talking about death give rise to all sorts of superstitions - and believe me, Nigerians are one of the most superstitious people in the world!
Re: Is Death Really That Scary? by goodiz(m): 8:39am On Apr 30, 2009
death is not really that scary -- at least the act of dying itself. the only scary thing there is the form in which it's going to come in.

death as a phenomenon is damn scary, its nothing to wish for to happen to you or some one close to you.

but having unnecessary fear of it and refusing to talk about it as if talking or not talking about it would make a embarasseddifference, thats the problem there, its inevitable and is a law no one can change undecided

so writing it in poems, is not wishing for it
its just an act of being realiistic and creative smiley

i dont mind writing on it from different angle, it doesent mean i pray or hope for it, a popular poem Death Be Not Proud by John Donne shows the poet having an upper arm above death and wishes not to fall for the scare it creates in the mind of people, so why are we being silly superstitious and chickening out undecided

write on it, so what cool

this is the poem

Death be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not soe,
For, those, whom thou think'st, thou dost overthrow,
Die not, poore death, nor yet canst thou kill mee.
From rest and sleepe, which but thy pictures bee,
Much pleasure, then from thee, much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee doe goe,
Rest of their bones, and soules deliverie.
Thou art slave to Fate, Chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poyson, warre, and sicknesse dwell,
And poppie, or charmes can make us sleepe as well,
And better then thy stroake; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleepe past, wee wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die.

those who fear death die a million times before they are really dead
Re: Is Death Really That Scary? by charony(m): 1:50pm On Dec 12, 2009
Death is a necessary end that must come when it must come. It is a meal everyone must eat whether hot or cold.
There is nothing to be scary of about death because it is an inevitable end.

In my own words or my definition for it is that, Death is the disappearance from appearance and not the cessation from existence.---Harvester Charles

Death in itself isn't scary at all - it's almost like falling asleep tongue

It's the knowledge of impending death that scares the hell out of people. grin

We do not really fear death. It is the stroke of death that we fear
