According to multiple reports, police men are said to be currently beating and molesting students of Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba township in Ondo State, after the institution was shut down following protest by students over the decision of the management to enforce ‘no payment of tuition, no test/no examination’ policy.

It is alleged that that the policemen are acting on the order of the University management, led by Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun. Some students who were found hanging around the town, were forced to lay on the ground and arrested by the police as can be seen in the pictures.

Some students were allegedly injured by the police in the course of arrest as others reportedly escaped being arrested by hiding in the roof.

The massive protest erupted on Wednesday as the students resisted the school authorities’ decision to enforce the policy from last Tuesday when 100 level and 200 level students commenced their test.

Even if the students went out of their way with the protest, it shouldn't have warrant this brutality from the police.

Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun should be stripped off that title and suspended indefinitely.

The students were asked to leave school, because of non-payment of fees.

They were doing strong head...

So, the authorities called in the Police.

I know you would soon chant 'corruption'...so let's lay a few facts. Universites in Nigeria are poorly funded...and the government does not have extra cash for them at all. So, fees .

If the university does not make life better for the students...then how do you expect them to provide for running costs, etc....

Sometimes, you Nigerians need to see the big picture.

So police brutality is the best way to calm down the protesting students?

So students should refuse to pay fees , and university should go broke because they can't stay in business?

Abeg, you Nigerians, make up yer mind....running a country costs money. Not everything is free...and by the way, why should students be rioting and destroying university property...which would have to be paid for?

Okay....

It is important that tertiary institutions provide a stipulated date that school fees must be paid before test and examination commence.

Imagine, in ABU ZARIA nobody will force you to pay or not it your choice, it is computerise there is no way you can register course without payment and if you feel wont pay and write test or exam you cant see your result. Well put the blame on the state governor, the tution fee is too much when not in private university.

. Very possible. Those days in uniben we are allowed to write exams without payment but you can’t see your result which even makes it worse cos you wouldn’t know if you have a carry over or not. Nigeria is education system has collapsed.

Right. I don't know why schools are very expensive in the south, we're not helping ourselves. That's what I love about northern schools like ABU, BUK and UDUS because their fee is low.

How do you expect them to go home? When the transportation fair price was increased double of the original price. Students are suffering, and still yet they are paying. Must they be the one to suffer the corrupted government
