Former president IBB was legendary for his ability to pacify malcontents via settlement.

Should Jonathan adopt the same strategy to keep his presidential dream alive, and stop the bombings threatening to tear apart his election bid?

Should he call in Atiku and offer him a fresh oil block, or even raw cash?

What about the leaders of Boko Haram?

They may claim to be muslim fundamentalists, but, being also Nigerians, are they really immune from settlement to the tune of several millions of dollars?? Can't see it.

It's easy to stick to principles in all of this, but that may even be more expensive, unpredictable, and cost a lot more lives.

So settlement of northern malcontents along the lines of the ''amnesty + cash & training'' offered the Delta militants should be on Jonathan's radar.

Certainly I'll be thinking along those lines if I were him.  cool

I believe we should just create Arewa for them. What use are they to Nigeria?
They generate only sand and almajiri's yet they cut off innocent lives of people in festive spirit, because they are losing the political game.

We need to cut the core North off.

@Rossike.

My man , what do you think Jonathan has been doing all this time other than "settling" everything that moves? The "settling" may just not be effective , as many of us predicted , as per the notion that their is "Honour amongst thieves". Even though Jonathan is settling "thieves" many of those thieves in the PDP still remain devoted to the zoning arrangement because most of them have benefitted from it. Even thieves make arrangement amongst themselves they expect participants will adhere to. Knowing how thieves cannot resist an easy payday the next line of action is to take the money and run. Enter "chop your dollar" tactics. With "chop your dollar (effectively what is happening to GEJ) you get no return for your outlay. smiley Caveat emptor : buyers beware  grin grin

Goodthief Jonathan has "settled" everything Nigeria has to offer already. He has settled any and everyone, even borrowing half a billion from abroad to "settle" his fellow horde of thieves in the PDP.

Fundamentalism is like cancer that its a rogue state away. We all know jonathan is a corrupter but in this case,it will mean paying for his quick own demise
