Chapter One

The night was still and silent, the only sounds the rustling of leaves and the occasional hoot of an owl. But then, suddenly, the peacefulness was shattered by the sound of howling. Wolves had descended upon the village of Mariko.

The king, Ogalo, quickly roused himself from his sleep, alerting his children. His first son, Baro, was the first to react, grabbing his spear and running outside to face the attackers. He saw a pack of wolves surrounding his little sister Agojie and brother Famori's hut, and he knew he had to act quickly.

With a fierce battle cry, Baro charged towards the wolves, his spear held firmly in his hands. He fought with all his might, striking the wolves with lethal blows, injuring them mortally. The wolves, sensing defeat, began to retreat, but not before one of them bit Baro.

Baro fought the pain and, with the help of his siblings, managed to get them all to safety. Together, they ran towards their father, who had already assembled his guards to defend their home.

"Father, we must leave this place immediately!" Baro urged his father.

"Where can we go, my son?" the King replied, worry etched on his face.

Baro thought for a moment. "To the neighboring village of Onala. We will be safe there."

The King nodded in agreement, and they quickly gathered what little they could carry and fled into the night.

As they ran through the forest, the King couldn't help but feel a sense of dread wash over him. He knew they were not safe yet. And he knew he had to find a way to protect his family from the wolves and other dangers that lurked in the darkness.

"Father, what are we going to do?" Agojie asked, her voice quivering.

"We will find a way to protect ourselves, my dear," the King reassured her, his voice filled with determination.

And with those words, the family of Mariko set out on a journey to find safety and a way to protect themselves from the supernatural forces that threatened their lives.

The few villagers who were left after the destruction of the wolves trembled in fear as they watched a giant black wolf rise up from feasting off a corpse. The wolf's eyes locked onto them, and the villagers were frozen with fear. And then, as suddenly as it had appeared, the wolf transformed into his human form - the King of Wolves, Apochie.

With a gesture, King Apochie brought all the dead wolves to life. They came back howling, and as he smiled, blood dripped from his lips. The King then turned his attention to the corpses of the villagers that littered the ground. He raised his hands, and with a powerful spell, he brought them back to life, transforming them into werewolves like himself and his army.

The few villagers who remained realized with horror that they were the only survivors. The King of Wolves had decimated their village, leaving nothing but death and destruction in his wake.

The King of Wolves smiled wickedly, blood still dripping from his lips. "You have been conquered," he declared. "Your village is now mine, and you will serve me."

The villagers knew that they had no choice but to obey. They were now part of the King of Wolves' army, and they would have to follow his every command. As they followed the army of werewolves into the night, the villagers knew that their lives would never be the same again.

Continuation...

The group continued their journey through the dark forest, their hearts heavy with the weight of uncertainty. As they walked, Baro's condition worsened, and he began to experience delusions.

"We have to find somewhere to rest," Famori said, his voice trembling with fear.

"We can't stop now," the King replied firmly. "We have to keep moving."

But Baro was growing weaker by the minute, and the King knew they couldn't go on much longer. Finally, after what seemed like hours of walking, they stumbled upon a small village called Pashut.

"We're saved," Agojie cried out, but her joy was short-lived as they soon realized the village was deserted.

"What happened here?" the King asked, looking around at the empty huts and abandoned fields.

"I don't know," one of the guards replied. "But we need to find shelter for the night."

As they searched the village, they came upon a small hut, and the King ordered his men to make it habitable. Baro was carried inside, and the King tended to his wound.

"Father, what's happening to me?" Baro asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

You'll be fine, my son," the King said, his voice soothing. "Just rest now."

But Baro's condition continued to worsen, and he began to babble incoherently.

"Father, the wolves...they're coming," he said, his eyes darting around the room.

"There are no wolves here, my son," the King replied, but his words fell on deaf ears.

The family huddled together, their hearts heavy with worry, as Baro's delusions continued to plague him. The King knew they had to find a way to heal his son's wound and protect their family from the dangers that lurked outside.

While keeping watch over his wounded son, the King fell into a trance and heard the old woman's raspy voice calling out to him. It was as if she was speaking directly into his mind.

"Come to me, King of Mariko. If you want your son to live, come to me," the voice whispered.

The King's eyes snapped open, and he looked around in confusion. None of his guards seemed to have heard the voice. Was he losing his mind?

"Your Majesty, is everything alright?" one of the guards asked, looking concerned.

The King hesitated for a moment before replying, "Yes, everything is fine. I just need some fresh air. Stay here and watch over my son."

With that, the King left the hut and followed the voice into the woods, feeling a strange pull towards the source of the voice...

As he approached the tree, the voice grew louder and more insistent. The King could see the opening in the trunk, and he stepped inside, following the voice that had led him there.

As he entered the tree, he saw an old woman sitting in the center of a dimly lit room. She was covered in black garments, and her neck was bleeding. But despite her wounds, there was a fierce fire in her eyes.

"Greetings, Your Majesty. I am Arva, the Witch of the Woods," she said.

The King stepped in cautiously, walking towards her.

The old woman coughed and blood came out her mouth,

The King rushed to her side, concern in his eyes..

"I am Arva, the last of my kind," she repeated. "The wolves killed my people and turned them into their kind. I barely escaped with my magic, but I am dying."

She coughs roughly as the King puts his arm around her, more blood spewing from her mouth.

" I have called upon a very dark magic, a kind that has not been seen before, granting supernatural speed, strength, and agility, even greater than the wolves. But it comes with a price."

"What is the price?" the King asked.

"You must drink my blood," Arva said. "It will siphon all that power, but it will also turn you into a vessel of it. You will become a hunter, with greater stregnth and agility than the wolves.

The King hesitated. He had never heard of such a dark magic before, but he was desperate to save his son and avenge his people. "I'll do it," he said finally.

Arva smiled. "Good," she said. "But be warned, the power comes with a price, and you must use it wisely, or it will consume you."

She opened her arms, and the King leaned in to drink the blood seeping from her neck. It was thick and hot, and as he swallowed, he felt a surge of power flow into him. His veins burned with it, and he felt his muscles bulge and his senses heighten. He pulled away, gasping for air.

"What have you done to me?" he asked, his voice deeper and rougher than before.

"I have given you the power to hunt," Arva said. "Now, go and avenge your people, but remember, use the power wisely."
Her voice begins to fade as her eyes stay still and life ebbs out of her.

The King shuts her eyes close and lays her on the floor; feeling the weight of his newfound power, He turned and sprinted back to his hut, where his son and guards were waiting. When he burst through the door, they all looked at him in awe.

"What happened to you, my lord?" one of the guards asked.

"I have been given a gift," the King said, his eyes glowing with power. "A gift that will help us avenge our people and rid the land of the wolves forever."

He said with a wicked smile...
