SUBJECTS: URGENT APPEAL: ADDRESSING THE COST OF LIVING IN AKUNGBA

Dear Leaders, Elders, Trade Associations, and Landlords of Akungba,

I write to you today with a heavy heart, reflecting the sentiments of many within our community. The recent surge in house rent and food prices has placed an unbearable burden on the shoulders of our fellow Nigerians. As stewards of our beloved town, it is incumbent upon us to address these pressing concerns with compassion, foresight, and urgency.

The current economic climate has left many families struggling to make ends meet. Households are forced to allocate an ever-increasing portion of their income towards basic necessities, leaving little room for savings or investment in the future. This dire situation not only undermines the well-being of our people but also threatens the social fabric of our community.

We must recognize that these challenges are not isolated incidents but symptoms of broader systemic issues. As leaders and influencers in Akungba, we have a responsibility to advocate for policies and initiatives that promote economic stability and social welfare.

This includes engaging in constructive dialogue with relevant stakeholders, advocating for fair pricing practices, and exploring innovative solutions to alleviate the financial strain on our residents.

Furthermore, we cannot ignore the moral imperative to demonstrate solidarity and empathy towards those who are most vulnerable amongst us. It is unacceptable for anyone to profit from the suffering of others, especially during times of hardship.

Therefore, I implore all landlords and business owners to exercise restraint and compassion when determining rent and pricing for essential goods.

In closing, I urge each and every one of you to heed the collective call for action and solidarity. Let us come together as a community to confront these challenges head-on, with empathy, resilience, and determination.

Our ability to weather this storm and emerge stronger as a community depends on our willingness to stand united in the face of adversity.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. Together, we can make a difference and build a brighter future for all residents of Akungba.

Yours Sincerely,
Comr. Ridwan O. Oseni
