Anambra State Police Commissioner, Mr Aderemi Adeoye, Saturday, expressed happiness that he would be retiring from the force on Wednesday May 1, 2024 without any scare and dent of image.

Adeoye, who stated this at a pull out parade held in his honour at Awka, the Anambra State capital, noted that he served as an officer under seven different police commissioners starting from his first posting into the State in 1991.

According to him, during his services as a police officer in Nigeria and as parts of peace keeping operation at Liberia, Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), among others, he has engaged with militants, insurgents, unknown gunmen and other criminal elements.

He praised Anambra State over what he described as their doggedness, warm reception and hospitality, vowing that he would never speak or support anyone to speak evil against the State having gained from them in diverse ways.

"Anambra is a wonderful State. Anambra people are warm, hospitable, kind and generous. I thank God for a unique privilege of serving ndị Anambra. They are very industrious. Anambra women are not pushovers. Anambra men always go about doing one good thing or another to survive.

"They have no time for crimes but always invest their times in legal businesses. They work for their money. I can never open my mouth and speak evil against Anambra State and her people. If I try that, let God judgement be upon me," he stated.

He, however, dedicated his achievements in office to gallant officers under his command and collaborative efforts of other sister security agencies in Anambra State.

The police commissioner, who noted that he has equally gained a lot of exposure, experience, knowledge and empowerment through courses and training underwent at course of his duty at home and abroad, including Ghana, Jos, England, Isreal and California.

Also speaking, Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, stressed that the commissioner came at a time the State was under siege by hoodlums and used his own style, dedication, sincerity of purpose and doggedness to salvage the situation.

"We love his I can do it attitude which assisted our governor in his fight to reposition Anambra State. And in short awhile we become calm and people started going out their normal duties. We have named a street after him. He is now a citizen not a visitor to Anambra," Soludo added.

On his part, the Traditional Ruler of Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area (LGA), HRM Igwe Chidubem Iweke also praised the retiring Police Commissioner, noting that his dedication to duty and refusal to accept gratification stood him out as a CP worth emulating.
