Stop politicizing security issues for cheap popularity,Obigwe warns Henry Mbachu

The National Coordinator of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, has accused the lawmaker representing Awka 1 constituency, Henry Mbachu of
politicizing security issues in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

He said the lawmaker's action should be condemned by all right thinking minds.

Mbachu had recently circulated a video broadcast where he claimed that over 34 youths were killed in the state capital within three weeks.

The lawmaker wondered why such level of insecurity should exist at the state capital that houses top security personnel, including the governor as the the chief security officer of the state.

Reacting to Mbachu's action in a statement on Sunday, Obigwe said, "My stand remains that security is everybody's business and all hands must be on the deck to tackle it but it is not by what Henry Mbachu did.Proffering solution to insecurity is not by going live on social media to play emotional blackmail politics.

"As long as I am concerned, the trending video of Henry Mbachu did not proffer any solution to the cult Killings in Awka and he said nothing that deserves to be applauded.

"He only made anattempt to use the cult- related killings in Awka to play emotional blackmail politics and hoodwink gullible minded people.

Continuing, Obigwe said,"When I watched the video , I said to myself that he only played to the gallery in a desperate and condemnable attempt to seek cheap popularity.

"In that video, he talked as if our security agents are sleeping but that is not true. The police are making commendable efforts to nip incidents of cult-related killings in Awka in the bud but Henry Mbachu turned blind eye to their efforts.

"Recently, Anambra Police command revealed that 16 cultists behind the killings in Awka have been arrested and 21 cultists now at large declared wanted. This is truly a commendable breakthrough step in the right direction that will end the cult-related killings in Awka".

Obigwe maintained that the arrest of the 16 cultists behind the cult killings in Awka was enough evidence that the government of Governor Soludo had zero tolerance for all forms of criminality in Anambra was yielding fruitful results.

He said,"I doff my cap for Anambra Police command for giving Awka residents and Anambra people at large the good news that they arrested 16 cultists that are behind the killings in Awka.

"With the commendable efforts of Anambra State government through the police, Awka residents can sleep peacefully with their two eyes closed and also go about their normal business without fear of molestation.

Henry Mbachu should stop using criminality to seek cheap popularity.
