Please, what do I really have to do now?

I started a Master of Arts program in 2019 which was unfortunately obstruced and delayed by the prolonged ASUU strike and COVID-19 national lockdown.

We eventually completed the program in 2023 and I proceeded to get a clearance to apply for the statement of result, but to the shock of my life, I was denied clearance because there is a deficiency in my Mathematics which is P8.

I have a P8 in mathematics while i have grade A and C in the other 8 subjects, including English. Interestingly, it is the same result I used to gain admission and graduated at the undergraduate level with a Bachelors of Arts in the same University.

Also, using the same result, I applied, got admitted and was cleared to undertake a Master of Art (M.A) program in the same University. Even, at the point of clearance for admission, there was no concern raised about my "pass" grade in mathematics. Since we started the program, we were not at any time advised to make up for the deficiency, but I was really shocked when the Verification and Clearance desk refused to clear me, insisting that its a new policy in the university. I was advised with the option of registering and writing a SSCE to obtain Credit pass in Mathematics or get waiver from the HOD and Dean of the Faculty.

I approached my HOD, but he said there was nothing he could do and that the only option left for me is to write a fresh SSCE and obtain the said credit in Mathematics. He even said the situation could also affect my chance of being recommended for admission for my PhD program which I had already applied for.

I need advice and way out of this cul-de-sac.
