That is actually a very shallow and partisan analysis.

I share your views. But if you were asked to take a guess, who would you say he wanted in his heart from the start? It certainly wasn't Ahmed Lastminute Lawan.

Buhari is clueless and thinks only of himself. I wouldn't want to waste my time to read to read his clueless mind to decipher who he wanted initially.
Yemi Osibanjo was the best candidate for the APC ticket. He was the best president Nigeria should have had. He was acceptable when he was acting president and would have united the country if he was president.
Buhari should have supported his candidacy and bid to get the APC ticket, but I think Buhari still selfishly wanted power to remain in the North.
If Yemi Osibanjo had won the APC ticket, Peter Obi would not have become an alternative that Nigerians turned to. Osibanjo would have defeated Atiku in an election.
Peter Obi became a choice because many Nigerians didn't fancy Atiku and Tinubu, so they chose Peter Obi as alternative to the two.
At party level, Tinubu won Osibanjo in the primaries because that was delegate voting where Tinubu threw dollars at corrupt delegates. In a real general election, Osibanjo will defeat Tinubu hands down.

For me, Buhari caused many mess Nigeria is in today.

Good, but if goods and services are to come down, Production Sector / Industrial Sector should be the Focus and be at Maximum!
Let's do the analysis of the sectors that readily comes to mind:
1- Agric --low much are they Producing because we don't hear both Ministers ( Minister of State included).
This is a vast Sector that should be able to feed ALL Nigerians,if well harmonised, but none of those leaders heading the Sector is talking or are doing anything for us to lay our hands on! We only know when they spend the Annual Budgets,as usual.
2.Industries - honestly,Mrs Uzoka-has been up and down on these Industries but she is handicapped because of No -Light,as almost all industries are on Generators in Nigeria!
3.Power/ Light Sector:
•Untill we Nigerians get it into our Facility that - without Govt Fixing this All Important Sector,we can't move forward, neither can Nigeria Employe her 30% Youths - who are restless because of the Age Grades and because there is no job!
- what is the States Governors doing in providing lights?
- Where is the Power Minister-in all this? I really pity this Minister-because since independence/ Decades ago,No Improvement in this Sector- because of Corruption!
YET THIS POWER SECTOR DRIVES ALL- OTHER SECTORS OF THE ECONOMY and we are failing in Generating and Distributing Power - let us ask DISCOS - why there is no Constant Lights?
• Ghana And Republic of Benin have all Stopped -using Generators to run their businesses. How is Nigeria going to do it and move fast about it?
4.Production that is Export Driven;
- the more we Export our goods and Services, the greater the FOREX!
Even now these Products in Nigeria are few and expensive because we have had all been used to Subsidies - of the Crude Oil!
By brother na only to loot and embezzle public funds na him these carton brain people Sabi, they have now transferred this disease to every segment/strata/sector of the country.

They don't know nothing else

Why is this such a big headache for IMF? The FG has a right to subsidise fuel imports through NNPCL to avoid hyperinflation and more suffering for the already overburdened people. There's no evidence yet that we have a subsidy scam in place.
The Western world has a lot of subsidies for their own people. Why query ours always?
We really need to manage our resources better so we can avoid taking death trap loans.

Beautiful submission by you,dear!
IMF and World Bank - are the eyes and mouth - piece of the Western World and their Mission is to keep Nigeria in particular and the so called 3rd-World Country low- they know,if Nigeria gets it right,e g by becoming like India - that has jumped out of the being a Third -World,then how would they Sourced their Raw Materials from us?
NIGERIANS Leaders and Politicians are the real enemies here, for forming collaboration with them, afterall, they continue to Borrow - from them!
Very Shameful, afterall American govt still Subsidies many items, for their Citizens! So,why can't we still have and maintain Subsidies in one or two Critical Infrastructures - until we see a good Performance on that particular Infrastructures.
Anyway,na Corruption everywhere and in most of the Govt- MDAs( Min, agencies and Depts -e g NNPC, DISCOS, Poverty -Humanitarian &Disaster Min).

You people never learn and refuse to comprehend!

You talk of humane? Is it humane to borrow trillions of Naira to pay for petrol subsidies? It is bankrupting the nation! You refuse to grasp that because you think it's inhumane to remove the subsidy.

What many of you fail to realize is that the petrol subsidy is improverishing everyone. Government having to borrow to provide the subsidy leads to Naira depreciation, which is turn is highly inflationary, and high inflation hurts the poor the most.

Had Tinubu left the price at 195 to a litre, I won't be surprised if the exchange rate hit 2,500 or worse to the dollar

Tinubu, should have deregulated the price of petrol just has it was done to diesel and kerosene. The price increase would likely be one-off and benevolent as it would spur investment in the downstream sector of the economy and reduce waste.

There are better ways to help the common man. Slash import duty on agricultural produce such as rice, wheat. and poultry to 20%. This will bring down the price of food. Presently, the import duty on wheat is 70%. Imagined if it was 20%? Bread would be much cheaper. The government may also generate as much as $1bn as import duty.

You're the one who's evidently ignorant of what you're talking about yet talking trash with confidence and at the same time lacking in comprehension then projecting ur own insecurities on me.
At no point did I say subsidy should remain, I quoted someone based on his response to who he quoted. I'm glad the person I quoted understood me hence his response which i responded to as well.
Subsidy removal should have been allowed in 2012 but APC rejected it, called it a scam, used it as a propaganda to bundle PDP out, we all at one point thought PDP was the worst they could ever be but then APC came with deceit and lies which is why Nigeria in 9 years has endured the worst plague in centuries. Subsidy that was said to be a scam all of a sudden exists. We don't have a problem with its removal, it has to go but not in the way it was done. It was wrongly implemented without due diligence and it's not true exchange rate will be #2500 according to you if subsidy wasn't removed. They have nothing in common, Naira fell hard against the dollar cos its own subsidy was removed as well which is what they meant by floating the Naira. Both Fuel and Naira was subsidized and now Tinubu removed both, they're independent of each other. Both policies was implemented wrongly which has both contributed to the extreme hunger and poverty prevalent in the country today. Then you talking about slashing import duty is another stupidity evident in ur thought process. You're clearly not learned, Import duty in Nigeria today is charged in dollar at a rate above the official rate, secondly are you not talking about insecurity that's made farming in Nigeria almost impossible. Was it not APC that closed the border in guise that we encourage local farming and food sufficiency. Introduced schemes that was used to loot money as we didn't see any impact of this schemes. Where is the rice pyramid? You're talking about slashing import duty when Tinubu is busy taxing everything in Nigeria. Where's the connect between what you saying and what you support? Pls educate yourself and stop projecting

I have told you the truth, but like most people on this sites, you don't want to see it.

You want to just call me agbado.

Enjoy your fresh debt. It's only 17 trillion naira

Who incurred the debt? The party you support or the one I support?
I thought we was beginning to see things from both sides, you and I are not in government so we should at some point leave blind support and reason together. We all suffer from bad leadership so why should a sane person not know when to stop being blinded by support for whatever reason and be objective.
Subsidy should go, it should have gone since 2012, but the party you support prevented it, used it as a propaganda against PDP knowing fully well that preventing its removal was detrimental to our country. Isn't that unpatriotic? Then come back to it after much damage and rot has happened, debt at an all time high, billions of dollars borrowed for no visible project and schemes and then remove it without due diligence only to go back to subsidizing it again.
The problem now is that fuel is subsidized again at its current price and Naira is being backed as well with our foreign reserve after it was floated even at its current value. Why then did the people have to go through unnecessary suffering for nothing. Things can't get better with this present situation. Then multiple tax being introduced to almost everything while we lack basic amenities. Electricity subsidy has been removed as well.
Despite the numerous subsidy removal we still borrow for elephant projects while nothing is done to provide security for the masses they want to tax to death. Farmers can't farm, there's shortage of food and hunger but u borrow money for building projects that won't affect the people's immediate need. A lot of communities don't have access to clean water, what has been done to this urgent need? Nothing! We don't farm enough to be self sufficient and the lives of those that do aren't secured, what has been done about it? Nothing! Fulani bandits that choose not to kill this farmers tax them heavily and the government tax this same farmers without stopping this bandits and what have been done about it? Nothing! 9 years of APC rule and at no point have the people enjoy any positive impact of the government. So what exactly are we debating here?

Īf Nigeria has her own refineries all this issue about subsidy removal on petrol will not arise.
We sell crude oil to foreign refineries abroad at OPEC price in dollar and buy the refined products back with high foreign exchange at a costly price back with all forms of taxes. This is why fuel is costly.Imf cannot give good advice.
You are totally wrong on these, petrol is subsidized because NNPCL is owned by the government and government don't do business to make profit. Reasons why government hospitals and universities are cheaper than private ones.

Oya they should bring down the prize of fuel abeg. They can't be paying subsidy and fuel pump prize is over 600 naira.
After importing a litre of petrol at N1,200 and subsidizing N500, what pump price are you expecting?
