A NUMBER of subscribers of the Mobile Communication Network (MTN), in the Obuasi Municipality, have expressed their dissatisfaction with the poor service being rendered to them by the communications company.

They have therefore appealed to the National Communication Authority (NCA) to intervene and ensure that MTN provided them with good services. The users of the network in the municipality, including this reporter, have for some time now been faced with problems, with regard to the usage of their mobile phones.

Some of the challenges included, jammed network, voice echo and intermittent call drops.

In separate interviews, with users of MTN sim cards, most of them threatened to embark on a peaceful demonstration to express their disappointment, while others threatened switching to other networks like Tigo and Onetouch.

A 24-year-old trader, Madam Augustina Awuni, for instance, said she did not see why she should continue using the MTN service, because, "I did not buy the starter pack for buying sake, but to make and receive calls with it, so if I am not getting results, why should I continue using the network while alternatives are available."

Nana Osei, 26, an MTN to MTN operator, also said he has been recording a drop in sales as a result of the jammed network.

Meanwhile, a number of outlets, this reporter visited, showed remarkable improvement in the sale of Onetouch and Tigo starter packs.

Mr. Selorm Fianu, Obuasi Area Manager of Ghana Telecom, when contacted on phone, confirmed the increase in Onetouch sales explaining, "Previously the company was selling 15 packs a day, but we are now selling between 40 and 50."
