i love beads too i wear them on ma neck and on ma waist, i have always loved beads since i was a little girl , i would rather wear beads than a gold or diamond chain i love bead number 2

I love beads they are so pretty and you have better advatge with them than Gold or silver jewllery which you have to clean often to stop from fading. I loved three and four.

not only that,during the hot weather,gold is not so good for the skin.
Bead is the best alternative

yes people still wear them round the waist, its an old custom  common in all Nigerian tribes and some other parts of Africa
they are basically used by maidens who are yet to marry and are still virgins, waist beads also have various uses in part of Nigeria and Africa in general

waist beads was very popular in the early 70s and 80s in the Yoruba Ariya scene it had various names like ileke idi ,wewe, sowambe etc. And i guess its still popular today.

its believed that a woman with waist beads was able to roll her hips very well and that men get turned on easily when they see a womans booty with waist beads _{* how far this is true i have no idea*}
