So I was surfing through old threads in the Politics section and came across one of the most "threatening" threads of January, 2016, in which some "Niger Deltans" claimed they were marginalized and in turn, issued a 31-day ultimatum to the FG to release Kanu, else Nigeria would go up in flames. It's March already and nothing is happening. And with the many threatening comments that followed the thread, one would think "this is the end".

The thread and link below.

Niger Delta ex-militant leaders in support of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) struggle have given Federal Government 31-day deadline to free the leader of the group and Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, or face the consequences.

Also, the former warlords warned security agencies against tampering with the life of the IPOB leader, who is detained at Kuje Prison. Spokesperson of the concerned ex-militants, simply identified as General Ben, warned that at the expiration of the ultimatum, they would resume massive abduction of expatriates as a first step.

The spokesperson declared that Federal Government should not underrate the activities of the militants in the Niger Delta, no matter the number of soldiers deployed against them.
He fumed: “The ex-militant leaders in Ebeocha IPOB are warning the Federal Government and are giving them 31 days to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB and Director of Radio Biafra.

“We are giving Federal Government deadline; if they fail to release him, the country would be vandalised. He is fighting a just cause. Nothing should happen to him and Federal Government should not forget what we can do,” he threatened.

They accused the Federal Government of marginalising a section of the country, pointing out that the approach of the Presidency on issues bordering on the entire geo-political zones were treated unjustly and with bias.

Speaking on the recent invasion of the homes of their colleagues by security operatives, General Ben said the action was meant to intimidate them. “Federal Government wants to use that way to harm us. But we are warning that the (FG) should not forget our capabilities.

They think we can be intimidated by that approach. No way!
“Federal Government should know that the detention of Nnamdi Kanu and raid of the residences of our colleagues are enough reasons to collapse the society.”

“It is sad. We are not happy because things are not working the right way in the country. We are marginalised and hunted.
We are saying ‘enough is enough’. We are no longer interested in this country again,” he declared.

grin grin grin ;DThe tension in Rivers state ahead of Saturday’s national and state assemblies rerun elections went a notch higher on Thursday with the killing of an army officer and soldier.

The Nigerian Army confirmed the killing of a major and one soldier by gunmen suspected to be sea pirates.

In short, my newly found Igbo friends believe Kanu set up a trap for the FG and they swallowed it hook, line and sinker. While reality is dawning on Kanu, his followers are still saying "Nigeria" is in trouble, this is checkmate".

Don't mind them. Those are the ND clowns. Encouraged and fuelled by the duo of Peter Odilli and Amaechi during the Odili era.
The kind of people any people shd be ashamed of.
Please I am Niger deltan too and I think the difference between me and you on this matter is how seriously you might have taken them.
Every Rivers and Bayelsa person did not waste their time on that weightless statement. Niger deltans know those comments are not even worth their attention in the first place, much less debating

NB: Amaechi and Odili are reputed to have financed the first set of militants in the state (given them their first empowerment). This is what led to a militant being officially assigned the office of Chief Security Officer of the state under Odili.

You think this is petty. It is not Dearie. The threat was to cripple the country if their demands are not met. My point? In achieving certain goals, it is only proper we find a more subtle approach. I know you're a Biafra advocate, which is not in any way bad. This is the Niger Delta we're talking about here. They don't joke or make empty threats, I know this because I'm one. If you feel reminding whoever on why they have not brought Nigeria down against their threat is petty, then I wonder what is needed not.

Honestly, the difference between you and I here as Niger Deltans is that I took them seriously. I know what Niger Deltans are capable of and it can only take the intervention of those who put them on course to ask them to stop. We can only thank God it was just an empty threat though.
