hi guys, please i need advice on Celeron M.

I need to get a laptop, i have been looking at the Pentium series hoping to get one of them. somebody introduced me to Celeron as cheaper and a better alternative. i really don't know much about it.

So I would please like experts and anybody that has knowledge to advice me on that issue. and also what makes it different from Pentium, which is better, what are its features bla bla bla. please just tell me about it!

the celeron is just a stripped down version of the pentium. the M behind the name shows that its in the Intel mobile processor series. Mobile meaning that it generates (or better still, should generate) less heat, runs on less watts, etc. if you are looking for performance, opt for the pentium, not the celeron.

celeron is called an economic chip(processor) while pentium is performance rated. The main diff between pentium and celeron is the size of the L1 and L2 cache. You can google for the data sheet. Celeron has a less L1 and L2 cache compared to pentium, so the performance is less even if the processor speed for the celeron is higher than the pentium. In other word, cache size is more important than processor speed.
About which one to buy? It depend on what u actually want to use the system for. For basic office use, internet surfing, accounting, document editing/printing, file sharing, video playback, etc celeron is good cost-wise. The extra performance a pentium would have given is not needed for this basic tasks.
If u are a gamer or do video/sound editing, graphic designing, animation, programming etc, u need extra cost and pentium is the right choise.
