I doubt that. cheesy
I think they just wanted this "native" feel to the name and 'Bantu' just seemed like a perfect fit. I mean, I don't know.... cheesy

You're welcome.
And speaking of Zulu people, I had also heard about them way before meeting them. There was this song about Zulu warriors we'd sing as kids. I still remember it. My mum also sung the same song as a kid. grin

She had fans here and there but she never did it for me. I do like Sauti Sol though. Maybe it's because they don't sing these clichΓ© Kenyan songs that usually sound like nursery school rhymes. lipsrsealed

Interesting, because I read a lot of West African literature. Elechi Amadi, Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka, Ama Ata Aidoo, and Cyprian Ekwensi. We even did some of their books as literature set books. I also read Chimamanda's books but I still prefer the older novelists so far. Do you know that Soyinka's The Trials of Brother Jero has a Kiswahili version?

Aluta continua!!
**raises fist to join you in solidarity. grin

Sure they have beautiful names, but me, eh? It's their food I like.
As for their men, many women don't like them (for lots of good reasons), until you hear that he's the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. tongue grin

It is fine.

Hahaha that is quite possible though. grin grin

That is really cool. The Zulu Tribe is quite fascinating actually. I liked their warriors outfit though grin

Oh really? I had thought you'd vibe to her music. I'm surprised reading otherwise. Yeah Sauti Sol do good music. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚See how you just finished your country's musicians.
Nursery school rhymes indeed.

Lol. Seems we swapped. I'm glad you read West African literature. The above names you mentioned, I have read their works. I love Chimamanda's books. She's GOOD. I get your point actually, those old novelists made one travel in time with their books.

Oh really? What is the Kenyan version of "The Trials of Brother Jero".

Tiri gbosa for joining the fists in solidarity. grin

How's their food like? Spicy? Sweet? Creamy? And what is your favourite Arabian food.

Yeahhhhhhhh. The way many women don't like them for lots of good reasons is the same way I don't like them. Except the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, of course. grin grin

Masaibu ya Ndugu Jero.

Their food is spicy, but not hot chilli spicy. They use warm spices - cardamom, ginger, cumin and sometimes unique spices like saffron and rose water.
I don't have a particular favourite dish but their kabsa rice and chicken dish is something I'd eat for life. Then there's another rice and mutton dish I had in one Arabian restaurant. The chef just said that the secret was in the smoked rice and refused to diverge anything else grin. Though it did taste like every ingredient was smoked.

Don't get me started on their biryiani and pilau (which have both been adopted by East Africans). They cook it better by far.

Then there's their tea and coffee. They just don't give you normal Kenyan tea lipsrsealed. They'll put fresh mint, lime, cloves, honey and cardamom. And their coffees must have cardamom and/or ginger.

As for their desserts and pastries, I kinda have my reservations. They are usually too sweet and addictive. They love those sugar syrup and peanut or sesame candies. Or sometimes they mix that syrup with coconut flakes. I really wouldn't advise anyone who loves their heart to even attempt to go near them. Addictive, with ZERO nutritional value.

All in all, I've never taken anything bland in an Arabian restaurant.

Niceeeee. I love ginger, garlic and spices in general. How does saffron taste or smell like? I have read so many benefits about this spice, fell in love, that I named my diary "Colour me saffron". grin

Oh wow. I like seeing their food on social media though. Always looking colourful and spicy. There's this kebap dish I'm looking forward to trying one day. I have added kabsa rice and chicken dish to my To-eat list, courtesy of you. grin

I like Arabian tea though. It is nice.

Hahaha what happened to Kenya tea? Gist me.πŸ˜‚

Oh No!! I don't like pastries/desserts that are TOO SWEET.

Thank you for sharing your Arabian restaurant experience. kiss

How does one describe a taste or smell? Lol! grin
To me saffron threads brewed in hot water taste something like wild/unrefined honey or like flower nectar (My siblings and I would suck nectar out of flowers as kids so I'm kinda familiar with that taste grin).

I also feel it distinctively smells like a type of flower when brewed in hot water. I never pick any notable taste when put in rice, but saffron threads do make bland white foods colourful.

Oh, you go find a good restaurant and get yourself that kebab. Kenyans have massacred that dish. You should see what they call 'kebab'.lipsrsealed

Kenyan tea is one of the best in the world. It's even exported all over the world. But many Kenyans like to brew tea with no spices at all. No cardamom. No cinnamon. No ginger. No lime. Nothing. Just that particular taste of tea is what they crave for. My stubborn father is a good example. He even has his own milk:water:tea leaves ratio and each item follows a strict order in which it's added to the pot.cheesy I'm the only one who can handle his "little ways" whenever he comes over to my home. Even his tilapia has to be prepared in a certain way. Anyway, my old man's story is for another day. I can write a book about him. grin

Glad to share, but don't get surprised whenever I don't respond to your mention(s) sooner. Sometimes I "disappear" out of Nairaland to answer certain calls of duty.

Omggggggggg!!!!! I thought I was the ONLY weird child in the world that used to suck the nectar out of flowers. There was one flower plant in my house that suffered in my hands as a child, I sucked the living daylight out of it. It was so SWEET! But I later got a pollen allergy from the flower and my father cut down the plant down to its stem. I legit cried. cry

But it's good to know I wasn't the only one who sucked nectar as a child. I wasn't weird after all. cheesy

I now know how saffron threads taste like. Looking forward to it some day.

Hahahaha what do Kenyans call kebab. I'd like to see it. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Had no idea Kenya tea is one of the best. Good to hear that, we do learn everyday. kiss

Nigerians are the worst, we call hot chocolate "tea". grin grin

What type of tea do you like? Green tea? Lavender tea? Ginger tea?

Lol. I think old people like sticking to ways that are familiar to them. I won't blame your papa that much.🀣

Nahhhh! No offense taken at all. We all have lives outside of Nairaland (except trolls) so you can respond at your convenient time.

1. So you sucked nectar too? Hahaha.... grin

2. I'll find a picture that represents that Kenyan 'kebab' and post it, with the hope that it will not find its way into Poco's collection alongside that infamous spaghetti picture belonging to one incel. 🀣🀣

3. I take green tea because its health benefits have been hyped over the years and I bought into it, but I don't exactly prefer its flavour or anything. I sometimes add lemon and honey depending on whatever time of the month it is, but most times I add nothing to it.

Have a pleasant week ahead.

Hi DG, Good morning to you.

Non-stick pots are generally expensive. I don't think I've seen an affordable one, I might be wrong.

Good morning, DG!
I don't know brands of nonstick pots o. The last I bought was 3 years ago and I can't remember the brand. I will check the bottom when I am back to Lagos. Though I think majority of the fairly priced ones in the Nigerian market are not of the highest quality. But you can care for them to get the best out of it.

Okay so here's the gist.

Dude started live, according to him it was his first time. He said he couldn't go anywhere in Lagos without the paparazzi (due to the fame and all) I believe that influenced him into going live or so.

He set some ground rules and hammered on No "Are you single" questions lol some still asked though. Sadly that wasn't the most disturbing of all, it was the way ladies were throwing themselves at him in the comments section. Like I read things I couldn't unread grin grin grin. One lady even greeted the dudes mom that was resting on the couch in the background. It was so funny 🀣 like "My mother in-law, It's being a while how have you been " (read in Yoruba for adequate effect) .

While all these might appear as ladies catching cruises or jokes, the consistency proof otherwise. Like how can 95% of the comments be about dating him, being his spec, loving his physique, wanting to be his virtual assistant ( I wouldn't know if the lady who kept asking this really meant to apply for a job. If so does she think that's the appropriate time or channel to go about that? ) lol. Folly! women were throwing themselves at him live and I was shocked grin . One tried to caution them saying they don't know if he is gay, or dating or ritualist (Me I know that's what that one tells herself to sleep better at night, nah coping mechanism grin) But dude found the comment offensive Sha and I reason with him. You shouldn't defame someone just because you can't get over him nah grin grin grin grin

Anyways, Aside being an handsome cool and easy going persona, dude can sing embarassed he plays piano well too. He entertained us with that. Me I Sha asked him to play a song because I noticed he can't sing on high octave ( grin grin grin I wan wicked him small for always waka waka about) He didn't sing the song Sha. God saved him grin grin grin grin
He kept mentioning a specific handle like that sha before you know it, two ladies tagged the handle one called her our wife the other said one gibberish grin cheesy grin grin . I was like Wahala dey for man life ooo grin grin grin

Honestly ehn I specifically pray that God will help him to choose right grin .

In all it was fun and it showed that some of the things these guys type here about women are true. cry . Like I left when I started feeling shame for my gender. It was chaotic!

He dated that Igbo travel blogger babe, Alma Asinobi. They looked good together sha, were always traveling to countries together, he'd play the piano for her and she'd sing. I heard they broke up. I don't know what went wrong.
