"Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty"

Katsina is known to be peaceful and famous for being hospitable to people that come from far and near. Perhaps that's the reason for the slogan " Home of heritage and hospitality"
Visits to different police stations make one know that crime is very low here relative to the population (and 'poverty'). People are peaceful with the little they make ( dan kadan mai albarka yafi dayewa mara albarka... this roughly translates to small and blessed is better than plentiful but devoid of blessings)
And boom! the balloon of the peace and security we enjoy was deflated; and insecurity ran rampage in parts where most Katsina grains are grown!
To take this insecurity head-on, His Excellency, Mallam Dikko Umar Radda, PhD (whom I assessed to be a forward-looking gentleman because I've met and interacted with him several times) came up with a brilliant idea 💡: Community Watch Corps, CWC
Someone said the monetary palliative received by the Katsina State govt is to be used to tackle insecurity. To me, if successful, it's an investment that'll yield multiples within a year. This is not just an assumption; it's an experience-based fact!
1. Batsari is a local government area where you can get almost all grains in large quantities (on their market day). Also available are potatoes, cotton, onions, animals, etc. Monetary volume of weekly transactions here isn't less than 200 million naira
2. Yantumaki is a town in Danmusa LGA. It's also like Batsari but like half of the trading capacity of Batsari
3. Danja is acclaimed to be the tomatoes headquarters in Nigeria. During season (which lasts around 3 months), daily trade isn't less than 50 million
4. And the big boy: Dandume! You'll think people here are just magically turning sand into rice, maize and beans. 500 million is a conservative figure for their weekly trades

5. Sabuwa is an LGA beside Dandume. An indigene left the place and relocated to Katsina city due to insecurity. When he was there, he used two tractors to cultivate his farmlands. What his harvest used to be is better left for imagination! And there are many more of his type like that

Alas, since the insecurities started, which affected most of these LGAs and some five others, these markets, nay these LGAs, have become a ghost of their former selves

So, spending some few billions to make these farmers return to their farms and these markets ensure that it's fully secured isn't just a welcomed development alone but also a right step in the right direction
May it be successful
