16 Months Into My Tenure, Osun Yet To Take A Single Loan – Gov Adeleke by Nemere2020: 4:53am On May 01
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State says he has not taken any loan since he assumed office on November 27, 2022.

Adeleke said this at the second edition of “Ipade Imole”, a forum where he gave stewardship to the people of the state on Tuesday in Ilesa.

The governor said his decision not to take any loan to finance projects was in line with his pledge to govern with available resources only

“In all our governance activities so far, let it be known that we have never borrowed a kobo.

“This is in line with our pledge to govern within our available resources as we manage the huge liabilities we inherited from the previous government.

“If anybody tells you this administration has borrowed money, tell the person he is a liar,” he said.

Speaking on his achievements in the various sectors, Adeleke said his administration was repositioning the mining sector and had also set up a task force to curtail illegal mining in the state.

In health, the governor said that his administration had renovated and upgraded more than 100 Primary Health Care Centres in the state.

He said more than 50,000 persons had benefited from Imole medical outreach with a free enrolment of 29,000 pensioners in the State Health Insurance Scheme.

Adeleke said his administration had also awarded an N1.3 billion water contract for the rehabilitation of the Ora Water Works Scheme servicing the Igbomina area of the state.

On infrastructure development, the governor said that his administration was pursuing massive construction of flyover bridges and road dualisation across the state

He said his administration was also developing agriculture, women development, youth development, and creative development, amongst others.

“We are running a pan-Osun government that is committed to the revival and prosperity of our dear state,” he stated.

He can't take any loan, he is too shallow to think of what he needs a loan for, Osun state has everything and do not need investment into any future endeavors. All he needs to do as a governor is to continue to pay salaries while the state grows above her income from FG, creating an unsustainable future.

Continue to dance for 8 years, dangote borrowed to complete a refinery.some people will see this as an achievement, perhaps he doesn’t have any plan or anything to do with loans as if taking a loan is the problem or what you do with the loan.
No roads,no schools,no employments,no developments is worth celebrating too

Excuses to start borrowing and looting. I pity my country both old and young, rich and poor are all greedy and not fit to govern her.
so there is no difference between borrowing and looting?,I see you are the only one fit to govern Nigeria.
A wise man like you will rather have your children go hungry rathan than borrowing or collecting a derica of rice on credit when you have no money to feed them.
Some people just begin to sound more stupid in an attempt to make sense.

When you can't handle your domestic affairs as a man,is it a state that you can handle.

There is nothing to be proud of cos loans means you have done absolutely nothing since becoming governor

When a person is saying that they have not taken loan. My Gut instinct is telling me their eyes are on that loan as last “ Claro” when the tide turns.

That is a good achievement to people that don't understand anything about business. No loan, no growth. Loan also can ruin you in you don't manage it well.

It's not confusion; people understand and approach governance differently. Any governor who doesn't make the kind of money Lagos makes or receive the kind of federal allocation like Akwa Ibom and still doesn't borrow money probably doesn't know what they are doing.

Nigeria is a developing country and there's nothing wrong with borrowing and investing the money in critical areas that will yield more money for the state.

How about borrowing to start a massive PPP cocoa plantation or other cash crops that will help Osun become a major exporter of cocoa in Nigeria? The governor can also set up a company that will be processing the cocoa.

How about building power projects that will target certain industries and estates in Osun State? They will be cut off from the national grid and the power station will supply them power and the consumers pay their bills to the supplier directly.

There are lots of things governors can borrow money for. The IGR and federal allocation will be used for paying salaries, empowering the citizens and fixing infrastructure across the state, while the borrowed money will be invested in ventures that will only yield more money for the state. Many people just join politics to answer governor and not necessarily to make a major impact.

Adeleke, there's nothing wrong in taking loans for developmental projects. You cannot use your allocation and igr to develop the state, you need soft loans that would generate income.

Wise up and be a Gov that you're.
