This is a now rip off. Dstv increases their subscription fees every quarter or 2ce a year it seems.

That's their right!

Your government collects fat taxes from them every year. Not to mention other bribes and settlements.

It's left for you citizens to wake up and decide whether or not paying such ridiculous fees for cable tv is worth it.

Massively boycott them and they will either slash their prices or get the fvck out.

We all Nigerians can fight this ourselves.
As if our lives depends on that European football. We even subjected our own football to ridicule. I am an ardent follower of EPL but I went mad months ago for this reason. Now for 7 months, I've not recharged my
GOTV,
DSTV,
Startime.
I've been watching my choice of movies of DVD.
I found I've saved #103,000 so far. Am still keeping that move. Saving the money instead and am targeting it for farming or building. When it gets to #1M which will soon be.
If we all unite against this they'll force themselves down. Nigerians expect the govt. to even help him against his wife when she bullies.
Let's all do this for jus 6 months and dstv will come begging. I swear

Am waiting for comments from enemies of Nigeria. Pessimists, tribalists. Pained politicians.

The Nigerian Judiciary missed the golden opportunity to entrench respect for the rule of law in 2023....as long as you have jagua Nana as CJN and his fellow clowns, no one will take the courts serious.

Go commit a crime. Just to test if there's law. Only criminals like you believe in such. Even your Peter Obi has since stopped crying.

NBC is the most useless regulator in this country ..I don't know if MULTI CHOICE is bigger than them ...can't they emulate NCC and impose pay per view ...?

That court order was a mere academic exercise.
Re: Multichoice Ignores Court Order, proceeds With DSTV, Gotv subscription Hikes by alezzy13: 9:18am On May 01
Of course I don't support their blatant disregard for the court order, but honestly one can argue the rather frivolous nature of the latter.

Multi choice did not put gun on anyone's head to buy their product. Simply boycott if the rates are too much for you.

Netflix dey, Amazon prime dey, start times dey. So what's the fuss.

Lol. So the government is the problem by multiple taxing them?

I understand the cost of doing/running business in Nigeria is ridiculously high and crazy especially due to lack of basic standard infrastructure and power but we have a population leverage a smart company like dstv can capitalise on.

I don't see why this is so hard for them? undecided

Good, electricity, fuel and even common garrí we produce locally has significant increment, but when it comes to DSTV everyone will wake up.

Yesterday I had to subscribe for 2Months, so I can enjoy the old rate before adjusting to the new one

But it is true na. A court has no right to dictate how much a private company should price its products. A non-essential service for that matter.

Kudos to Multichoice. It is capitalism.

What was capitalism done for the working classes if not to exploit them

I'm not against whatever multi choices is charging.

What we should address is Pay As You Watch. DStv should be able to sell in hours. It's possible.

If I know I would be traveling this weekend, I should be able to buy 48 hours.

Even if I didn't finish the 48 hours before I travel probably bcoz of power outages, I should come back to meet the remaining hours.

Pay As You Watch is the way to go.

Na una know wetin una dey find with dstv...!

The fact that over 70 Million Nigerians can't boycott something that is a mere luxury (not necessity) shows you guys can afford it.

Dstv is not a necessity... it's not food or nourishment. You won't die if you don't use it.

Boycott and send those capitalist pigs back to their country!!!

You are totally correct.

We missed the opportunity to have ditched them the other time they denied Nigerians the opportunity of watching an AFCON championship like two editions away.

What we expect before? I know that it will happen as a result of 300% Electricity tariff increment and of course the high cost of diesel also contributed to the increase in prices. We should all blame the government of the day for the hardship Nigerians are experiencing especially since BAT became Nigeria president. What have Nigerians benefited from this administration since it's inception almost year ago? This is a question everyone should answer irrespective of your regional, political, religious etc leaning.

I wonder why a court would restrain MultiChoice, the choice of adjusting the prices for it's different subscription packages. The naira having lost half its value has skyrocketed every basic commodity and consequently running cost.

Should MultiChoice keep operating at a loss as a private business entity, when the courts could not halt the increase in fuel price, a basic commodity that controls the flares of inflation.

The services offered by MultiChoice are not a Do or Die. If you can't afford them, watch free to air Gospel channels or better still open your tv set, insert your kids and watch them play.

Exactly what I thought.

Court order against a running business.

Is that not madness.
