Which Nigerian Politician Rivals Peter Obi's 97% Support From Their Home State? by socialmediaman: 12:41pm On May 02 |
There are politicians from other parties in Anambra including Chris Ngige, Charles Soludo, yet Peter Obi got 97% of votes in the last presidential election from a state he governed over 10 years ago. Even Ojukwu (RIP) did not enjoy this level of support from Anambra when he ran for president in 2003 Which other politician in Nigeria enjoys this level of support from their home state? Forget the 3% loud opposition, there is something special about Peter Obi and what he did for Anambra people while he was governor 4 Likes |

rejons: Even Ojukwu (RIP) did not enjoy this level of support from Anambra when he ran for president in 2003, so where's the tribalism? You'll expect that using a new party platform, Peter Obi would have lost many votes loyal to the PDP, but he got 97% of the votes Compare this to when Ojukwu (RIP) used a new party platform to contest against Obasanjo and Buhari, he got 32% of the votes, Obasanjo won Anambra state at the presidential election. 3 Likes |

That's where Tribal bigotry comes in. In the ranks of the best governor in Anambra state, Obi should be the last or almost to the last . Popularity with no achievements to back it up 11 Likes 1 Share |

helinues: According the following assessments: In 2014, The supervisory Minister of National Planning Commission and Minister of State for Works, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda said that Anambra state's GDP had grown by 40% in 2 years during Peter Obi's tenure as governor (2009 - 2011). Yuguda was Minister of State for Finance under Buhari. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics and The National Planning Commission, the agriculture sector of Anambra state grew by 30%, Industry sector grew by 4% while the Service sector grew by 66% under Peter Obi. Peter Obi constructed and rehabilitated over 900km of roads, creating at the time, one of the best rural road networks in Nigeria. He also constructed 28 bridges in Anambra which opened up many communities and economic activity across the state, one of the longest of them built on the Ozubulu-Atani road. Yemi Kale who was the Statistician general of the Federation for 10 years between 2011 to 2021, said in 2014 that Anambra state was one of the top most developed and advanced states in education in Nigeria. |

helinues: Population of Anambra state was about 4.5 million when Peter Obi was governor. Based on your 40% bogus estimate, there should be about 1.8 million Anambra people on that thread. Since that's not the case, your claim is false. |

Light78: Yes they're here to derail the thread. Yes these people you mentioned were loved in their home states, but none of them got up to 97% of votes from their states. Perhaps Yar'Adua would've got it if Buhari wasn't on the ballot in 2007 but we'll never know. |
