Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed Israel's determination to win the war in the Gaza Strip, describing it as an "existential war." Netanyahu said, during a speech he delivered on Monday, in memory of the dead soldiers in the Israeli army, that “this war revolves around the following: either we are Israel or they are the monsters of Hamas. Either our existence, freedom, security and prosperity, or extermination, massacre, rape and enslavement.”

He added: "We are determined to win this conflict. We have inflicted and will inflict a heavy price on the enemy for his terrible actions." The Israeli Prime Minister continued: "We will achieve the goals of victory, at the center of which is the return of all our abductees. A victory that will guarantee our existence and our future, but the price we pay, and the price paid by previous generations, is very high."

For the 220th day, Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip continue, in light of a great scarcity of food, water, medicine, and fuel, and a shrinking number of operating hospitals and medical centers that provide services to the population. Medical sources in Gaza said that the number of deaths in the Strip as a result of the major Israeli attack exceeded 35,000.

On the other hand, Axios quoted 4 American officials as saying that US President Joe Biden and his administration feel frustrated after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected most of the proposals regarding the war in Gaza. The officials explained that Biden provided "his full military and diplomatic support to Israel in an unprecedented manner since the Hamas attack on October 7, even while he was receiving a political blow from part of his electoral base in the (US presidential) election year."

The officials added, "American support continues publicly, but behind the scenes, Biden is beginning to lose his patience." They pointed out that American officials are concerned about Israel's failure to adhere to a timetable for moving to a less intense phase of the Gaza war by the end of this January, given the state of affairs in Gaza, especially. In the city of Khan Yunis, in the south of the Gaza Strip.

The Axios website quoted Israeli and American officials as saying that the statements and actions of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich regarding the war in Gaza created “tension” with Israel’s allies, especially the Biden administration and Democratic Party lawmakers.

Finally, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said that Israel lost more than 1,500 Israelis in a year, including 716 soldiers and officers. He added in his statements today that "the war will continue until the kidnapped people are returned and the Hamas authority is neutralized."

The successive field developments in Gaza come despite more than 7 months having passed since the Israeli war, which UN experts and human rights experts described as a war of genocide, in which tens of thousands of Palestinians were martyred and wounded, most of them children and women, and nearly 70% of the civilian infrastructure, including homes, schools, and hospitals, was destroyed.
