Atiku Abubakar has recently taken a strong stance against President Bola Tinubu's decision to deploy pension funds for infrastructure development. However, this critique has drawn accusations of hypocrisy, as Atiku’s own campaign manifesto included similar proposals.

Ironically, a review of Atiku's 2023 manifesto reveals that he too advocated for the use of pension funds to support infrastructure development. His proposal emphasized leveraging these funds to tackle Nigeria's significant infrastructure deficit.

On page 101 of Atiku manifesto, he stated the below:
"How we will fund infrastructure:
Since independence, Nigeria has heavily relied on government funding of infrastructure through an inefficient budget design and implantation process. Infrastructure is a key growth driver with significant multiplier effect on the
socio-economy of a country. Nigerians, retail investors who will make small investments in roads, railways,
airports and seaports. This is capable of boosting social cohesion as people from different parts of the country feel a real sense of ownership of the nation's assets.

Other investors in the infrastructure fund will include our domestic pension fund administrators (PFAs), with over N8 trillion under management, and major international institutional investors. "

Could it be that Atiku did not read his own manifesto before condemning Tinubu for doing the same thing he stated in his own manifesto?

On page 70 of the manifesto, he wrote:

“To break the jinx in the financing of infrastructure in Nigeria, we shall implement two major interventions.

We shall incentivize, with regulation and tax incentives, a consortium of private sector institutions e.g. Pension Fund Administrators (with N8.14 trillion in Pension Fund Assets and over 70% of this sum inefficiently invested in Federal Government Securities) to establish an Infrastructure Debt Fund [IDF]. The IDF will primarily mobilize domestic and international private resources for the financing and delivery of large infrastructure projects across all the sectors of the economy.”

The issue here is that nobody trusts this government

Tinubu says one thing and does another

He said subsidy was over but they were still secretly paying subsidy, yet lying to Nigerians

Tinubu said he had floated the Naira, which wiped out billions of investor’s money, but they’re still defending the Naira and lying to Nigerians about it

How can anyone trust such liars and propagandists with money from pension funds?

After lying for 8 years to Nigerians while Buhari was destroying the country, he came to power and his policies have been negatively impacting on Nigerians, how can you trust such a person with money from pension funds?

Atiku and Peter Obi are enemies of progress. They are both against any developmental project the Tinubu administration is pursuing for no good reason other than politics. They are both so petty and empty. Good enough, Tinubu doesn’t give a fvck about them. He will keep doing what is good for the country irrespective of the evil attempts by Atiku and Obi to politicize everything.

Exactly, the hypocrisy of Atiku is just too pronounced.

Man just go about criticizing Tinubu for the same exact thing he indeed promised to do if elected president.

I think Atiku is just bitter that Tinubu is a “talk and do” man. Usually, our politicians promise A and do something else but Tinubu so far has been actioning everything in his manifesto even when some of them are critical decision that could damage the image of his government considering the initial economic effect of average Nigerian.

That is how bold leaders move.

Ebola Tinubulation should implement that cybersecurity levy, let's see if lightning won't strike him.

500 people kidnapped in a single operation by terrorists under Tinubu's watch but Obi is the enemy of progress according to babablu. Seems terrorism is one of the dividends of Ebola.

With the way Tilumbu has mismanaged the economy and monumental corruption in his illegitimate regional government, nobody will trust him with pension funds

Currently only Yoruba people are defending Tilumbu.

He is a Yoruba president, not Nigeria

One good thing with Tinubu is that he mentioned explicitly what he'd do.

There was even a video where he talked about accessing the pension fund. He told former president Buhari he'd develop a template for him then.

He spoke about the student loan scheme years before becoming president. He even challenged Jim Ovia at a symposium to consider consumer credit schemes.

Tinubu was clear with his plans. And he is following up with them. He came with a plan.

What plans did Atiku and Obi speak about?

I also saw the video. One great thing about Tinubu is the “Talk and do”.

When those kids should have been listening to his speeches, they are busy sharing bulabaloo. Now baba dey implement what he said one by one, Atiku is angry.
