this post is meant for mothers and fathers. for those saying 1 hour fingering is not possible, now let me tell you. when you go to european hospital for pregnancy test, they will give you who is available at the time whether male or female but majority of them are usually male doctors. and sometimes these male doctors always have their style of getting what their want. i am talking of one month pregnancy here. they will say that the baby is not seen, that the baby is not in its position and then they will put their hands inside and starting locating what i don't know.

I think the practice rather should be a female nurse should be present when a male Gyn is examining a female patient and vice versa.  Until the percentage of female Gyn or doctor becomes adequate I think this should be the practice!

From observation in Obs/Gyn practice here in Naija, they don't just insert fingers into you.
If at all they want to check female patients, there is ALWAYS a female nurse unless the Obs/Gyn is a female.

Also, they don't even insert fingers into patients unless they want to induce labour, check labour progress or there is a serious problem.

So, I think that practice of inserting fingers from 1st month / 1 trimester, is European and is "questionable" to the practitioner.

Then if your religion doesn't tolerate it, simple get a female obs/gynea.

So far, I think we dont have that problem in Naija, a good percent of our Doctors are reasonable decent.
I once withnessed a delivery that a young female doctor handled, I was pissed off by her flimsy attention to the woman. I wasn't surprised because, the dr was a single lady.
So male or female, what u need is an obs or gynea who is good on his / her job.

as a poster said above, their are more male doctors to female doctors. So what do u expect. Patient too should investigate properly if the doc is a male or female before visiting such hospitals for treatment. Abi you don't expect the medical line to change because of a few people.

Naturally when it comes to live the last thing on every doctor's mind is pu.ssy. In my unit, there are about 10 Obs&Gyn consultants all of them are male. So what can a woman that needs to be attended to do?
I agree it would be better if a female doctor attends to a female when it gets to some levels. But, where is the manpower?

I want to disagree with the OP on the '1 hour' insertion duration, that's an exaggeration. U shd even thank God that your wife was pregnant when she was being examined! You need to go to the Gynae Dept of any busy hospital on a typical gynae clinic day and see orisirisi women lined up to see doctors. I assume that 3 out of 5 women will have the need for such insertion and I tell you a woman in desperate need for solution won't think along the line you're doing now.

In my own case medical students, both male and female were watching when my womanliness was been examined by a doctor because I had fibroid . The truth is how many would doctors remember? A beg, rid your mind of such thots!
Like some people have posted, there are far fewer female gynae docs than male, and gynae is majorly a female issue So what can we do? Go to Europe or Saudi Arabia sake of say we no wan make dokitor see our yansh, ? A begi!

its obvious that the person who started this thread is very ignorant of the medical profession. A typical day at ante natal clinic can be very depressing for the doctor on duty. Arriving and seeing over 200 women he has to attend to is already a put off!!not to mention the private part that has been covered by pant followed by cycling short followed by skirt and finally wrapper, you can imagine the stench that follow when its time for examination.

A friend of mine in the USA had a preference for a female doctor when she gave birth. We can easily ask for that in Nigeria too. In fact, many obstetrics textbooks talk about registering preferences for delivery on the first ante natal visit.

I pity those men who are over sensitive when it comes to the issue of Docs doing VE on their pregnant wives. What is more important, the health of the woman being examined or her vagina. Doctors are professionals trained to respect the woman anatomy. They dont do vagina examination for the sake of it. In the medical profession gender is not an issue, what matters is how competent one is.
