This country is a joke. And the funniest part is that some set of people will be happy with all these demolitions, thinking they're doing a certain tribe, not knowing they're doing themselve. Go on twitter, you'll see some people cheering that misplaced priority of a project, saying Igbos should go to their region and invest, they don't want Igbos investment in Lagos bla, bla, bla. But what they don't know is that other investors who are not Igbos are also watching and taking notes.

I just they laugh those people because by the time they realise what they doing to themselves, I'll be like when Zimbabweans began chasing white people and their investments out of their lands in the 1980's thinking they were doing the oyinbos, only for the country to suffer from one of the worst economic crisis known to mankind a few years later grin

Lastly as a SS babe, this is for those of you saying "God bless people of SS & SW", deceiving yourselves, if Nigerian divides today and for some reason, SS are not able to get their own country, We would rather go with the Igbos than join ourselves with the same corrupt people that have been responsible for our sufferings and the sufferings of Nigeria at large since 1960. In Europe, and America or even south africa, you can not build on a property just because you bought the land, you need to have the right permit and government approved documents.

Landmark isn't a tourist destination. Landmark is just like a small beach side resort for those who can afford it. and lets not talk about the overpriced and exploiting restaurants and cafe along that oniru beach shorelines

How many tourist visit landmark? majority of customers in landmark are Nigerians

it unfortunate that some people have spined these stuff into a tribal issue but along that shores, lot of restaurants, shops and also shanties will also be destroyed.

if we take into consideration, the effort the lagos and federal government took to reclaim most of that land from the ocean, they spent billions of naira doing that, but then how can you now claim ownership of something that has a master plan and the government have spent billions of dollars in doing.

Have you ever thought why there are no beach front house properties in Nigeria? it is because of the landuse acts and the claim that from 250M from the beach shore, the government owns it.

so why spin the news into something tribal, when you know you are breaking the land use act and also the government master plan

Such a shame. I cannot believe that in this age, with all the claim of “I know it all”, a young so called educated Nigerian says beaches are not tourist sites.

Are you one of those who go there to worship “mami water”?

Na waoh!

Popular Nigerian Travel and Tourism YouTuber Tayo Aina, has come out to share his take about the current controversies surrounding the coastal Highway project that resulted in the demolition of the popular Landmark Demolition beach in Lagos.

Tayo Aina who has almost a million subscribers on his YouTube channel mainly focused on travel and tourism, communicated his thoughts through his verified social media handle saying -

Tayo Aina

Tayo, pls keep doing your thing from anywhere you are. I follow you and watch your videos.

This country is so disgusting ...
I can visualise your visit to LA video. I have watched it like 30 times

Lagos-Calabar coastal highway is far more important than any Landmark beach front or whatever he claims is on the coastline...

The coastal highway will open up multi-million and multi-billion dollar investments along the route that will create x1000 more jobs than what Landmark is claiming now.
LASG will still demolish the place and all buildings along that corridor when the yellow rail line starts, all the noise they are making is initial gra gra.

Mumu-man, Tayo is lamenting about the wisdom of govt killing a tourism shoreline just to do road and this makes sense to everyone except you alone.

Why these accusations of collecting monies from tourism investors ... don't YouTube pay him?

Did I hear you say foreigners don't visit Landmark? Are you for real?

Good investments must be lawful investments, otherwise it doesn't attract any good. So, did he rightly acquire the land from the government? If his case is an example of investment without adhering to the extant law, I don't think we should support it because such doesn't really encourage good investors except rats who bribe their way around so that they can steal the country dry.

And, if he got himself there legally, are there grounds for getting to court to seek redress? Let's all support him all the way to that end if yes.

Then, noting that Umahi has stated that compensations will be paid the affected individuals and businesses irrespective of whether they are legally there or not, then we should find out if his will be short of expectation so that we can make the right noise.

That boy Tayo is suffering from Juvenile exuberant and deliquescent. He was a small street boy when Tinubu and Obasanjo was fighting over conservation and preservation of Victoria Island from being submerged by the Ocean. It is even very absurd that one person is taking the entire Lagos for a ride on our land. He is holding Lagos down for development because of his business.

If VI had been submerged can we get Landmark? To worsen the matter he is not the only person affected. Is it because he is an IBO ? The indigenous Lagos people should never take it lightly with him. He wants to dictate governance to Lagos people. That is why they want Chinedu as governor. Their plan failed.

The protection is not yet complete. Phase 2 should be able to complete the protection. Opportunities along that corridor on completion of the road project is enormous.

People that are dead and people that have left Nigeria don't know what God has done for them.

In another place, they would pass the high way beneath the resort.

Why is fuel scarce and expensive now? We don't know. None of the several ministries could warn that fuel would be scarce, even when the ripple effects it has on everyone's life is significant.

And you people get angry when whites see us as inferior? grin grin

How come we still struggle with very solvable problems? grin grin

He's very shallow for that comment. Obviously, he is shortsighted and can't see the bigger picture.

The coastal road will bring in way more tourism than just one business. Imagine how many coastal businesses will spring up along the whole coast including international standard hotels and other investments.

He is well travelled, reason I'm surprised with this his outburst. I hope he will take time to study the laws of FRN and retrace his steps.

Landmark is an illegal occupant in a public property and infact ought to be prosecuted and all the gains he made over the years retrieved from his accounts.

I don't blame you because you have not made any building project that is is easy for you to say.

emkz:
What are the issues?

(1) Landmark admitted they violated the right of way of FG.

(2) They have not proved that they own the coastal land.

(3) The demolition only affected some shanties, and hardly the main buildings.

(4) Landmark wanted to fight the project to protect their selfish interest.

(5) How come he didn't seek redress in court if he felt his land was forcefully taken away from him?

(6) Why are other businesses not making so much noise like Landmark?

If anyone wants to take his businesses out of Nigeria, he can consider the market and the operating conditions. Landmark goofed here. They never asked the right questions. They felt if they build on that land and stayed for long, it would automatically belong to them. The least I expected him was to find another location in Lagos to continue. Just inform your patrons of the new location.

How hard is that?

His band of fellow criminals under him went about town celebrating the fake news, only for Maersk to openly disgrace them that such discussion never happened. But these same fools out of primitive bitterness choose to destroy $250 million worth of investment established by a Nigerian.

If they so much cherish investments, to the extent of spreading lies, why then destroy the ones you already have

Is it him that determines where the road will run?

So he even knew it was land earmarked for a road, and he built a resort there?

Mssheww.

Can he try that in UK or America?

Plus Tayo Aina needs to SHUT THE HELL UP, and go live wherever he wants to live, and stop trying to use Nigeria to shine.

Idiot too stupid and full of himself to see the big picture or read the legal provisions around the issue.

No, Tayo Aina, in those places you mentioned with your inferiority complex, you cannot build on a land you know has been earmarked for a public road, and then when time comes to build the road, you start instructing the govt where the road should pass through.

You can never try that in those countries you worship, Mr Aina.

He even mentioned Middle East.

Dem no born you well to try such there.

Those ones will just cut off your hand.

You just rushed to quote the part that favors you, didn't you get it that they altered the plan after he knew about the road project that the road should run behind it? The contractors should just build it flyover along that beach line to maintain the area

The relevant political pressure groups need to rely less on that Ghana troll house. The kids there flooding Niraland and other Nigeria social media spaces with Igbo marginalisation sound bites are rather foolish. They let down and undermine the great intelligence for which Igbo people are renowned.
