I've been following a couple of threads in nairaland and I am particularly interested in snail farming(though for home use).

Its for my parents who are on low cholesterol diets and I want to get them alternatives protein source. They are both retirees.

My question is this

I initially planned to get hutch boxes (2 joined together) for breeding the snails. However in their home they actually have an indoor garden. I have attached the picture, the large plants there provide shade. My concern however is preventing rodents,rats from getting in. If I am to build a wire gauze fence would I not need to the cut the large plants.

I'm considering the garden option because its bigger and would not need constant wetting because its an open roof so rain falls directly. Its about 5ft by 10ft

So what do people think? Hutch boxes or the indoor garden
