Help please!!! am seeking for someone who has similar experience, to what am experiencing in my poultry, they has been a reduction in there egg production since last week, the eggs they produce per day has drop from 30/38eggs to 20eggs out of 45 chickens, (their production duration as at now is two and half months) the only symptoms observe is the color of their feces which is not the normal white and black but green and brown color

Green is for Newcastle disease why brown is for coccidiosis so be fast and treat them ok

Age and breed of birds? Last vaccination date? Any medication given? Any change of feed or source of feed?

Many things can cause reduction in egg laying. Assuming no management lapses, and that you are actually giving them layers mash, it could be because you changed their feed, if there are no other symptoms. Sometimes they can reduce egg laying a little, post vaccination, you may know whether the timing syncs here (since you vaccinated last week). Brown/dark faeces with a little white urate on top is the normal, green faeces is a sign that they are either not eating well or the feed is not being digested, either due to illness or to the feed itself. You say there are no other symptoms so I personally suspect the feed since you say you have changed it, though hybrid feed is normally ok. I suggest you change back to the old feed, and put on v & e for sometime. If you are still worried, take a sample of their faeces for test for worms and coccidiosis (I dont think there is cocci though). Make sure they have enough cool water, and see if they recover within a week or two.

Good luck.

25 weeks is not all that late for some heavy breeds. I cant really tell what is happening without seeing the birds and getting their history. It could also depend on the feed or the management, or even the management before purchase (which is why I prefer d.o.c). Normally, CHI vets can be hired to do outside contract on their day off. Maybe you could consult one of them, or go back to CHI to make enquiries. They should be able to guide you better, seeing as if it is due to something from their farm, they would have probably gotten complaints already.

Sorry, wish I can be of more help. I hope you have switched them to layers mash though.

Thanks a lot #Farmerforlife, am going to update u next week as regard to their improvement, and one more question please, when we purchase POL can we start with giving them layer mash instantly or wait till they start laying before giving them?

There are different opinions on this. Generally, farmers wait until the pullets start laying, then convert to layers mash. Some wait until it gets to 40-50% before converting. Personally, I think the best is to wait until about 10-20% are laying, then introduce layers mash. When you bought the pol, you must have asked for what they were being fed, it is good practice to give them time to settle down before you switch, no matter their age. Yours should be on full layers mash by now, I hope? Also give them enough to eat, REGULARLY, dont stint on food. Once egg production drops in a flock, it is hard to recover it.
