It Will Be 'Really Unjust' To Not Award Liverpool The EPL Title - Brighton Boss by ogbiwa: 5:32am On Mar 21, 2020
Brighton & Hove Albion chief executive Paul Barber has said it would be "really unjust" if runaway Premier League leaders Liverpoolwere not awarded the title for 2019-20.

The English top flight has been suspended until April 4 becuase of the coronavirus outbreak, raising doubts over whether the season can be completed.

Barber told the BBC's Football Focus that ending the league as it stands would be unfair for teams at the top and bottom, but he is hopeful the season can be completed:

"Every league starts with an expectation of completing all 38 fixtures, as it is in the Premier League, and we want to be able to do that.

"Our intention must be to play the fixtures, but it's really hard to imagine putting on a football game in the Premier League in two or three weeks' time given the scenario we are in.

"If we were to freeze the league it would be incredibly unjust for Liverpool to not be awarded the title, because everybody in the game appreciates what a fantastic season they have had. Equally it would be unjust for teams to be relegated with nine or 10 games to go in the Premier League."

The Daily Telegraph has reported that Liverpool "are still likely to be crowned Premier League champions" even if the 2019-20 season is cancelled.

The Brighton chief also said it was "difficult to think about" the Premier League resuming on April 4 because a number of teams now have players in self-isolation.

Arsenal have announced the full first-team squad is in self-isolation after manager Mikel Arteta tested positive for the coronavirus, while Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi has also been diagnosed with the virus.

Leicester City, Everton and Bournemouth have also confirmed they are taking precautionary measures and have players in self-isolation.

The Premier League is due to hold an "emergency meeting" on Thursday with clubs to discuss plans for the rest of the season, according to Sky Sports.

shocked

Emotion and sentiment have taken over this man

Nobody begged coronavirus to come

It's so unfortunate it had to come at this time.

If they are able to get this far this season, they can surely do it another season

Life is first before any other thing

Modified:
And moreover, this is not the first time they are coming close to clinching the title but somehow lose it at the very last minute

That's y U only av Jesus Christ as hope.
-Luck alone doesn't pay, if nt Liverpool wud've won d league by luck.
-Hardwork alone doesn't pay, if nt Liverpool wudn't b hearing story of maybe 2 b awarded d league or nt (25pts with 9matches 2 go).

It's interesting to know that some pages of expected events in history will be blank because a single virus mutated and proliferated. The mobility of it's human host aided this proliferation to all vastly inhabited continents.

Just a singular mutation event started this whole series of events that has halted the activities of the human race. Just think about it, something so small the human eyes cannot see, stopped all activities in the world. It's very interesting.

If Liverpool should be awarded the title,it would be unfair to the rest of the teams either.

Mathematically they haven't Won it.Then How do you decide the top four? Are we going to Maintain the current table?
What about the Relegation battle? Who goes down and who stays up? There are a lots of things to Consider.A team like Aston Villa that's currently in the relegation zone has an outstanding match to play which would bring them out of the zone if they win.

Then what happens in the Championship? Teams like West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United that has worked hard towards promotion,Do they get Automatic promotion or Still remain in the Championship if the season is Declared null and void?

The best Way is to complete the season whenever it is right before we talk of another season.Another problem is that some players Contract would expire on 30th June.Would Such players play beyond their contracts with their respective clubs especially when some of them are key players?

If they Season should be declared null and Void then there's nothing for Liverpool.

Liverpool and bad luck are like 5 & 6.

I'm sure they will also be praying that the ongoing UEFA champions league got cancelled permanently since they are out already

Awarding them the title feels like a consolation. It won't do liVARpool any good. There's no glory in that, no need to panick, there's not enough reason to cancel the league yet, liVARpool will be crowned champions following due process of game time with few games left to play. It will be far too catastrophic for FA to cancel the league or declare liVARpool Champions prematurely.

I suspect the remaining fixtures will be played behind closed doors, i.e without the presence of fans, I believe they are just stalling time to see how many players are infected, with the general stay at home which should help control the spread, caution will be taken to complete games not just PL, Europe as a whole.

I for once will like liverpool to have the league but be it as it may be all status quo must be maintain the way it is now, the top 4 teams currently will make the CL, but if that were to happen what will be the fate of bottom table teams will they be relegated? That will be a huge questn to answer...
