Lets Compare the Old Grand Cherokee and the All New Grand Cherokee. I think the New Grand Cherokee has been modified and better reviewed now.

The 4.0 liter engine is woefully UNDER-powered for the Jeep Grand Cherokee body.  That vehicle accelerates best with the 4.7 liter V8 motor whose fuel consumption is only a little bit greater than the consumption of the six-in-line engine.

For anyone intending to acquire a fast getaway vehicle for the various dangers inherent in driving Nigerian roads, a six-cylinder powered Jeep GC would be an ill-advised purchase.  That configuration is merely a sheep in wolves clothing, gutless pose-mobile that will let the owner down tragically the first time any serious acceleration is required to overtake safely or flee danger.

Go for the V8 if you MUST drive a Jeep GC, but remember that the transfer case (4WD gearbox) of the 4.7L V8 requires a very special fluid available ONLY from Chrysler USA for normal operation.  Pour any old ATF into that NV247 transfer case and you will fry your 4WD capability and wind up with a 2-wheel drive bus.

For ultimate reliability forget Jeep and go Toyota 4 Runner 1997-2002 vintage.
