19-5-2023 Dear Diary, My groundnut farm of two weeks is doing pretty good. Don't ask why I haven't check my corn on the farm to check how it's doing? There's a particular 'Red Sea' orchestrated by the Mining activities we have to cross before accessing the farm if it rains too much your's sincerely can't jump this sea because it can drawn even a Giant by a hairsbreadth Alas, I'm going there on Saturday because we're amassing more land this Year. My motivation "hubby" finally yielded to my plea to resign his private job and focus on Agriculture and I'm so elated plus the recent salary adjustment affected his Ministry He will be writing his promotional exam next week.He saw every reason to resign because we can never go hungry as long as we breath surely, Need to say,We still have enough food from the previous season we can't finish before this year harvest not that we didn't do Sadaka"Give to the poor" we did at harvest as a way of appreciating the Earth that favor our harvest. Without much Ado,I need to get to the kitchen asap.Life of a Nigerian Mother Farmer Cum Agropreneur. Good bye diary, Blessed Morning I besech thee. Kêju 4 Likes |

Motherlove:Good evening, I plant from my previous harvest Weed is normal when it sprouts you either weed off manually or use selective herbicide.Controlling them from sprouting is not possible. My perspective though, |

Hello madam Maryam, how do I know the groundnut is mature for harvesting ? Thanks. |
Re: My 2022 Farm Diary by Maryam1234(f): 10:00pm On Jun 04, 2023 |
Motherlove:You apply herbicide a day after cultivation. For pesticides you apply 3 times;interval of 4 days. Note:You should only spray pesticides when the crop started producing flowers 'very imperative ' |

15-6-2023 Dear Diary, It's been an exhaustive business year for me. The first time I'm contracting all weeding jobs since I venture into farming. Our six weeks old corn is doing perfectly well and they're scattered across various locations The groundnut on the other hand is barely 5 weeks old and it's flowering already. Bounty harvest speculated already My plan this year is to sell off immediately after harvest because eating most of this storage foods can be cumbersome.I can't imagine the stress of roasting groundnut before eating when I can easily get already roasted one from the market with just a penny. Diary, you will say why not give it to neighbor to help you peel and roast as usual nay! I aren't gonna stress no one this year mehn Groundnut is the only thing I'm not going to store this year and no regrets but, I will definitely reserve little for next year cultivation as usual, InshaAllah. |

Diary, Hope you still remember my pretty little garden, the sample beans is blossoming I have start clearing off some Curry leave because they're preventing photosynthesis and I don't need them except of course for my regular giveaways on my market platform.

23-6-2023 Dear Diary, We acquired more farm Land Cultivation will be done this weekend Land preparation has been contracted. The aim is to cultivate beans alongside by September because the corn that will be cultivated here will be harvested late. 26-6-2023 Cultivation Of corn was carried out today. It's going to be a late harvest though, May God protect the would be corn from pest in human form. As it's going to be late harvest, human scavengers' are unavoidable Good night diary, Much love from me to you 1 Like

RavagedHeart: Farming is real business so long as we still have Life. "The whole essence of existence lies in the stomach" If not for distance barrier, there's land surplus over here |

RavagedHeart: Don't leave your means of livelihood because of farm land Biko Some of us are doing this thing for the fun of it and nothing more. Imagine not buying some basic food items like Maize and Beans for a whole year Because you're eating from your own personal harvest, that's just the fun of farming nothing more please don't leave your Job,we famers are still working and hustling |
Re: My 2022 Farm Diary by RavagedHeart: 8:08pm On Jul 01, 2023 |
Maryam1234: Haha Are you saying one can't make a good living in that area by farming alone? Is the farming not that lucrative or the cost of living is just so high that makes the stress not wort it I no dey understand again. Abeg make me understand because I'm already packing my bags |

01-7-23 Dear Diary, Birds are disturbing and forcefully harvesting my seeds (Corn) Reason is; because it's late farming, other corn within the premises have grown and I just recently acquired the plot. Its not a challenge as I have replanted some uprooted seeds today. Diary, Our farm is doing well.I was advised to cultivate hybrid variety sorghum that grows to maturity within 90-100 days by a Nairalander turned friend I'm going to give it enough spacing inorder for the would be beans not to be distorted.

Re: My 2022 Farm Diary by Maryam1234(f): 8:33pm On Jul 01, 2023 |
Some piece of advice: Below is the effect of not giving enough spacing to your crop. They're going to compete for food which in the long run affect their yields. The seeds that are going to yield from this corn are no doubt going to be very tiny Imagine the porous spacing

RavagedHeart: You can make a good living if you will go into large scale commercial farming. You're packing your bags nibo No make me laugh piss for body Honestly living in this my Hamlet is economical no worries at all but relying solely on manual farming is not advisable. If you're going into mechanize farming you're welcome 🤗 after the season you can switch to Irrigation like it's common in Zamfara and Up North before you know it you go dey invite Dangote To Dinner |
