Amid busyness and piling up of work tasks, me-time is something every employee needs. A short time that you can dedicate and spend just for yourself is a haven! Even though it looks trivial, this initiative can improve your physical and mental health greatly.

What is Me Time?

Me-time is an effort to spend a short time just for yourself. This activity can be done to unwind and restore your mood after a busy day at work. It can be done in various ways, generally according to the needs and hobbies of each person.

This can even be achieved with simple activities, such as taking a bath, reading books, cleaning rooms, styling hair, as well as doing various household chores. People's preferences to spend their me-time will be different from each other because it will be according to their preferences. What is important is, as long as you have time to pay attention to your own needs and health, you have succeeded in spending high-quality me-time.

You should take the time to read books that are full of inspiration or life learning values. Such as a biography or a personal development book.

Cleaning the house

The next recommended activity that you can do during me-time is cleaning the house. Maybe, you think this one is not a me-time material activity. But in actuality, cleaning the house is very beneficial for your mental health. On top of that, a cleaner house will greatly affect your mood and productivity.


You don't have to tackle each area of the house at the same time to be clean. Choose one particular area first, and upon finishing you can assess your body - whether you have the energy to clean other areas or not.

You can start by cleaning your room first because it is the main place where you spend your time the most. Next you can choose to clean the kitchen thoroughly. The kitchen is where you prepare food almost every day, thus maintaining its cleanliness is important to ensure you are always kept healthy. To clean the kitchen, start by cleaning the fridge, and throwing away all of the food that has been stored for too long. Getting rid of this food is important to prevent the occurrence of fruit flies in fridge .

Have a workout session

The next me-time activity that you can do in your spare time is a workout session. Working out will be a great way for you to maintain physical health, while also effective in relieving fatigue and stress after work. Workout sessions can be done easily at home with simple equipment only!

Do your hobby

One of the best ways to fill this vacant time is by doing your hobby. People who often do their hobbies tend not to suffer from stress easily, have a stable mood, and can avoid depression. Doing activities you love can also make you feel happier and more relaxed amid your busy life.
