Majority of Nigerians really don't know or understand the earning potential in poultry business.

Many intending farmers are held back by the sad tales told by those who jumped into the business with very little or no knowledge of the business and ended up burning off their little capital.

Here's the thing, if you have money to invest, you're sure to live entirely of poultry business.

That's true I must say as long as the capital to invest is there.

Ok, lets say you have 10 million naira and you don't know what to invest it in to bring good profit at least 15-20 percent every 6 weeks.

I'll advice you put it in poultry.

You mustn't build your own farm or own a land to do this.

There are many unused farms around you can lease for some time.

Most you can get to lease for at most 300k a year with up to 2000 capacity structure depending on your location.

Lets say you could get 1.

And you have extra cash 5-10M to invest in broilers production.

Currently, considering the high cost of feed and chicks, 10 million can only conveniently raise 3000 birds to 5 weeks without any wahala at all.
Now let's assume you could get a market for this production at 5 weeks.
And your targeted profit per bird is averagely 500.

Do the maths.

Note: 500 profit is just a benchmark. It could be much more depending on your production AND marketing strategy

The main work here is ensuring that the stock is well managed to achieve good production with very little mortality.

At every 5 weeks interval, your 10million naira investment could be giving a return of 1.5m above.

Lets say you could target 6-7 stock period within the year. You could be making a 100 percent return on investment (10million) profit in a 12 months span.

Yes, I know you want to say it is not as easy as I say it and its true. But nothing is easy... You just have to work it out and make it happen.

Well, assumptions aren't facts. Always treat your workers even though some arent't appreciative enough, a good farm record keeping will help you detect any abnormalities fast enough to contain it.

You can always start up with what you have. The post was trying to portray a point. 2Million is a good investment capital to start up with.

You can start with what you have, 500 DOC is a great starting point if you have an established farm setup
