You're looking where you want to go on the other side of the road and one dumb government tells you to instead walk 50 or 100 meters to pedestrian bridge, cross there and walk same distance back. Do you people think rules are made to make life hard for people or to make life easier for people?

Does anyone have statistics on how many people have lost their lives or being knocked down in all those busy areas where those bridges are located? I certainly know many many people have died from the complications arising from the economic hardships we have suffered in the last one year -- as if the other years have become child's play in comparison. Talk about misplaced priority.

Born and spent much of my first 30 years in Lagos. I've now run away from there because it's a very dangerous place to be

Like I do tell people changing of people mindset should happen before infrastructural development if not it will be under used or misused.

Our mindset and reasoning my change first. Our leaders know all these but just like wasting money cos their own gain.

For how long? undecided

Education, gentle persuasion and appealing to people's sense of reason, order, decency and good judgement will only go so far because...while some people change when they see the light, others change only when they feel the heat. Unfortunately, we seem to have an unusually large number of people in the latter category.

Pedestrians die needlessly on that expressway almost every day and yet people just won't learn. We should have long moved from where we are now to an advanced standard of lets say, one pedestrian overhead bridge every 50m, 100m ,150m (or whatever distance is best) - to make things easier and even more convenient for pedestrians. But we are clearly not ready for that discussion yet. People won't insist that their local government chair or councillor builds more pedestrian bridges...and people won't even use the few that have been built.

We should expect more needless deaths.

The thing is the pedestrian bridge is far to some people in some areas and it doesn't make sense having to walk a very long distance to climb bridge only to walk back again. A good example is ALADIE bustop that's between onipan and palmgroove ikorodu road.

It's only a stupid person that will walk all the way to palmgroove or onipan to use the pedestrian bridge there. Even governor wey set the law in this scenario no go climb the bridge.
So some places still need to have bridges.

Or imagine the distance between Anthony/town planning and obanikooro , all those staying in-between have no choice than to jump the road.

Thats the reason why pedestrians keep tearing down the iron barricade between Onipanu , Aladie, Sunday Junction and Palm grove.. The walking distance to the bridges is too much.. But I dont want to believe KAI offials would be in those places oo

Even in Charlie Boy bus stop in Gbagada, I dont see them there, na Charly Boy bus stop police men dey run that end

When Lagosians are not animals, why will they go to this extent?

Unfortunately it seems this is the only way to tame the inner stubborn goat in the average Lagosian.

They've done it in many places. People will go and destroy the fence at night.

It's only the pedestrian bridge at cele Express that is valid...than the rest...they construct the bridge far away from where people gather to cross....

Govt are very insensitive to the need of the people, how can you go and build a pedestrian bridge far away from where people cross.

They didn't ask themselves the question of "why do people cross here?" before erecting the bridge.

Another thing, where buses stops to drop people at ikeja along is very far from where the bride is. Tomorrow, if they are to build the bridge now....only God knows if they will get it right.

They can't stay there because they know obviously that it doesn't make any sense to walk all those distance to climb bridges and then walk back. That's why they don't stay there.

We are experiencing a similar problem in Lekki Phase 1. LCC built a pedestrian bridge to enable people cross the expressway. They also erected a metal fence in the median of the expressway to stop people running across and endangering their lives. You will not believe the number of times that people have destroyed that fence. LCC also stationed Man O War officials to arrest people that are jaywalking (or jayrunning), but this has not stopped the problem. People still destroyed the fence in the middle of the night. Now it seems like LCC have given up. They haven't replaced the fence in quite a while.
