The Lagos State Police Command said it has identified the police officer who shot a young man, Toheeb Eniafe, at a petrol station on Wednesday.

This was made known in a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin on Thursday.

He said, “The person behind the shooting has been identified as a police officer serving at Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 17, Lion Building, Lagos.

“Investigation is still ongoing and further findings will be made available.

“Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command is working with the family of the deceased to ensure that there is no miscarriage of justice.”

PUNCH Online reported earlier that Eniafe was shot on Wednesday at a petrol station belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited at Obalende in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State.

He was reported to have been shot dead while he and some others were resisting the move by some security agents to buy fuel without joining the queue.

You wait till it’s your turn, they easily identify a Nigerian by the way we always want to jump the queue.

I was shocked when I saw people queueing to enter a bus in South Africa. They were on queue waiting for the bus to arrive and as soon as the bus arrived they started entering one after the other.

In my country, one mumu will come and cause confusion just to scatter the queue

I’m not in any way defending the useless police but the law everywhere permits a uniform personal on uniform to jump queue…. The uniform simply signifies that he/she is on duty

Yes you cannot be more correct. In a country where uniform men are given priority, citizen would ordinarily give way for a uniform man to jump the queue that’s because they respect the citizens right and the citizens recognises their sacrifices and respect them.

Our uniform men have overtime abuse the citizen's right and overstep their boundaries hence the reason we don’t see them as anything special
