I served at Sagamu (which is where the orientation camp is).
It was fun, taught in a secondary school, the people were very friendly and accomodating, cept for the fact that they had some exploitative tendencies (once u cant speak yoruba) and they used to think corpers have money.
I learnt to eat amala with ewedu and enof pomo, i also leant to eat beans (ewa) and bread (without using spoon) usually u use the bread to scoop the beans.
The beauty of serving in ogun state is Lagos is not far away and u can start attending interviews towards the end of ur nysc provided u graduated with a good degree.
Just zero ur mind and have fun, dont go there with any prejudice in mind.

80% of der posting to primary assingnment are SCHOOLS! State govt pay 55k at d end of service year. But dis year the state govt said they will be pay only d first 500 corpe members to register. All in all, its fun- especially d 3wks in d CAMP. try n inffluence ur posting to either Sagamu, Abeokuta, or ijebu ode, thats d place am familiar with in ogun state.

I served in Ogun state 1999/2000 the experience was cool then, don't know about now.
Then allowee was N 3800 & state offices Paid N 1500.
Then I was posted to Opic but I ended up working in the state min of works & housing without any stress.
The good thing about serving in Ogun is the closeness to Lagos for those of us who are Lagos based.

Yeah, served in Ogun state about 10yrs ago.in iperu remo in a secondary school, called Akesan community grammar school along ilisan Remo road. it was a nice experience o.infact the people were very friendly to strangers. i had everything i wanted there just dat the alloweee was not much then but men i really SERVED! me only teaching the students 5 subjects, hostel master,FCS Coodinator on friday, class master and game master, started the computer department of the school with the help of the PTA. most of the schools are without teachers so i had to fill in. even i had to pay some student school fees atimes.but it was intersesting. i mean, God granted me favour honestly. i had fathers, mothers among the teachers even children among the students even i was even given a WIFE to marry. In my house i never lack food. parents were just donating food items like gari, rice beans yams, palm oil, even a bucket full of big snail every week, fresh eggs, live chicken. etc just pray for God's favour and dont let money be your focus.

I am currently serving in Ogun and I must confess the experience has been terrible for redeployed corp members. Since Feb till date we have not been paid a single kobo. Ppl tht saw aleart amongst us got paid for only last month. Did I mention that Ogun state Nysc pays #19600 instead of #19800? It wld pay you better to get a good private school atleast that way u are gurranteed extra pay appart frm fed. Cus state wont give you shit! Least I forget, you would need to rent you own house and pay bills like normal worker if u no get relatives there and belive me, it aint cheap.

I served in ogun 5years ago. was cool, yes u can influence your posting if you are smart. My ppa was at a private secondary school in Akute, a town sharing border with Lagos. I go to the school once in a week to teach further mathematics. While I spend most of the week hustling in lag. was fun.

Served in Ogun 2010/2011 Batch B. Can't say it was much fun, save for the orientation camp at Shagamu. Ogun competes for the ignoble award for the highest no of Mushroom private schools in Nigeria, with non other state than Lagos of course. If you have the misfortune of being posted to one of these schools, then you are done for. Had a serious fight with the proprietor of my PPA back then @ Ibafo. Suffice to say i left.

Basically, corp members hustle for Abeokuta and Agbara, which is industrial hub of the state. Shagamu is also a good place to serve. One advice though, do all you can to avoid being posted to Waterside, it's like a death sentence. And yes, you surely can influence your posting from the camp. form a good rapport and relationship with the camp officials, but be wary of the soldiers because most of them can do very little. Only the camp commandant 'get mouth'.

best of luck.

Am serving in Ogun state, the state as a whole is good and nice. The best LG to serve outside of Abeokuta is Ojodu, under IFO LGA its more or else like lagos. And with this new policy getting to serve outside a school is really difficult. My PPA is a private school in Ojodu. I do extra coaching so presently i make more than double what NYSC pays and best of all my weekends starts on thursday night in Lagos. So ur welcome to the Gateway state.

Serving in ogun state is full of ups n down. I am serving presently in sagamu, and this town can boast of mushrooms secondary schls. I happen to b posted to one of this mushrooms secondary schls in sagamu that you have to work like crazy. Imagine a schl witout a time table. No teachers in d schl, buh the schl cn boast of 7 corpers taking not less than 3 subjects and rounding classes from 8am to 2pm everyday.
