This isn’t biblical.

Christian clerics should stop panting to media and societal pressure to twist and pervert the gospel.

However, I’m not a supporter of prosperity or money-money gospel.

Moderation is the key.

offerings were never part of the Bible. The early apostles collected offerings so as to help the needy and cater for the full time workers in the church.

Right now, it's different. Pastors are now richer than the church and probably don't need the money again. So this is a step in the right direction to take off the burden from the members

No. The collections of the Bible church was not only for the needy. The assembly of God right from Deuteronomy has always take collections to cater for the general needs of the church and the needs of the ministers.

Jesus took offerings to fund His ministry.

Luke 8:1-3
[1]And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,
[2]And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,
[3]And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

You recall he had a treasurer in Judas who kept the funds?

John 12:4-6
[4]Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,
[5]Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
[6]This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

John 13:29
[29]For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.

The money was much, and it wasn't collection for the needy!

The Epistles teach giving well to pastors. It was a thing in the early church.

Galatians 6:6
[6]Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

1 Timothy 5:17-18
[17]Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
[18]For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

The welfare collection for the need of the church in Acts 5 and 6 was just an aspect of the need of the church emphasized there. Apparently, it's not the alpha and omega of Christian giving. The needs of the church could be anything: building needs, equipment, missionary journeys, church venue rent or maintenance, etc. These are the needs churches have today...

Lol. The extent to which you guys asslick Pastors always amaze me.

If you catch a Pastor mercilessly banging your wife / daughter on your matrimonial bed, I bet you would help to force her legs 🦵 open wider.

I have seen a lot of your posts defending the Pastors with every fibre of your being... your case is....if I say "hopeless", it will seem I am insulting you so I wouldn't say it.

I will soon become a Pastor. You must pay your tithes to me, I promise not to spare the rod for your wife if she's my specs.

I will part her thighs with my rod like Moses parted the Red Sea. Na your tithes I go use buy condoms and aphrodisiacs. Now shout "Hallelujah"

cheesy grin

Offerings and tithes are for the needlings, poor, orphans, widows and less privileged but theives from the pulpit has turned it into their personal cash to buy jets, carry prostitute (ushers, singers, choirs), build school that their members can't afford, etc and keep promising their gullible members imaginary heavenly wealth, virgins, golden houses/estate etc and forgot that all of us must join our ancestors when we die. ( See Geneis 15:15)

Foolish/gullible/blind followers embarassed

Lol.
Offering collection has never been about whether it's convenient for the people or not.
This one here is about being religiously correct to gain cheap popularity.

Wake up children of God. Offering and tithe is good but not compulsory. Churches are now far richer than congratulations and should now start catering for the congregation.

Anything away from this is scamming

This is also a sin. Church's not responsible for high cost of fuel. Instead he should focus on empowering people to be able to buy fuel and also advise/pray for govt to be able to do well with governance.
Lastly, prosperity gospel is still being frowned against but offerings are needed to propagate the gospel of Prophet Issa (PBUH).

Smh. Who were they paying the offering to before?

When people don't have a proper knowledge of the Kingdom service, this happens.

He has no right to stop people from paying offering, he's indirectly blocking people's blessings that way, and that's a sin on him.

There are some good intentions that are actually evil in disguise. Someone should call him to order

Oh! My people don suffer for these thieves hand.

Guys stop giving these pulpit bandits your hard earned money. Whoever or whatever made the universe will NEVER EVER EVER NEVER need your money for A N Y T H I N G whatsoever.

Any human being who collects money from other humans on behalf of an unseen entity is a thief. You don't need a judge to tell you that.

Any human who gives money to another human with the mindset that he/she is giving money to the creator of the universe or any unseen entity is a big fool.

Any man who tells you he works for the maker of the universe is a thief. He works for his stomach. He must one day come to tell you his "all-sufficient " god whom he works for needs your money. The being behind the existence of the universe is not a human like Dangote, Elon Musk or Tinubu that will need workers and money. Wise up

MANY NIGERIANS WILL SUFFER TILL THEY DIE , THEY won't MAKE HEAVEN AND THEY WILL ROT IN HELL JUST BECAUSE THEY HAVE ALLOWED STUPIDITY TO BECLOUD THEIR NORMAL SENSE OF REASONING AND HAVE ALLOWED DOCTRINES TO GOVERN THEIR LIVES

even in the bible offerings is not MANDATORY, it is VOLUNTARY. but many pastors today have made it mandatory to the extent of brainwashing people that if you do not give to God or offer something to God ,HE won't BLESS YOU OR PROTECT YOU, THIS IS ALL A LIE. and here is a pastor trying to correct that and yet some people are saying he is wrong, what sort of people are we sef?
some churches will even give you the minimum currency you can drop for an offering , some will say nothing less than 1000 or 500, some will even say ,the amount of offering will determine the amount of blessing God will give to you, and yet some ppl are still supporting them. na wa o
