A contractor, Olugbenga Obadina, has admitted to receiving N2, 17,190,000 (Two Billion, Seventeen Million, One Hundred and Ninety Thousand Naira) from the Office of the National Security Adviser under Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd) on November 28, 2015 for doing nothing or scheduled to do anything on behalf of the federal government.

Obadina, who is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), made the confession on Monday, May 20, 2024 before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

He admitted that the payments made to his company, Almond Projects Limited was neither meant for installation of power plant in Yobe State nor for any power project whatsoever in the state.

Obadina and his company, Almond Projects Limited, first and second defendants respectively, are being prosecuted by the EFCC on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy, official corruption and money laundering.

Under cross-examination based on Obadina’s evidence-in-chief, prosecution counsel, Ibrahim Buba asked the defendant to identify the project for which payments were made to his company. Specifically, he was also asked to state if the payment was for the purpose of installing a power plant or any power project in Yobe State, to which he answered in the negative.

“My lord, with reference to payments in the document that is written, particularly to the Almond project, no site was mentioned in all of the description. No location was mentioned in any of the descriptions my lord,” he said.

Prodded further by prosecution counsel to confirm if it would be right to say that no part of the payments was made for installation of solar or power plants in Yobe State, the defendant acquiesced, stating, “Yes, none of these payments was made for the installation of solar in the state.”

Citing the defendant’s extra- judicial statement, marked Exhibit GO1, 1-9, prosecution counsel pointed out that there was nowhere in the entirety of the defendant’s statement where he specifically mentioned a particular area in Yobe State where the project was to be executed and though the defendant contested the claim, saying that he mentioned a site outside Damataru, the state capital, but could not point to it in his statement when challenged by the prosecution counsel to do so.

There was no re-examination from the defence and Justice Dimgba adjourned the matter till May 30 and 31, 2024 for continuation of trial.

Will it be better for the incorruptible PTF a-looter comrade of Abacha who denied looting by his boss even after Obasanjo had recovered billions of dollars in loot from Swiss and other banks? Does it not strike you as odd that Obasanjo would endorse a thief like Buhari to replace Jonathan?

How much of your own time and money have you ever contributed to a political party or campaign? If you have never contributed, does that not make you an accomplice for aiding and abetting the part of corruption used to fund political activities in the absence of contributions from educated people like you

Here is a picture that alarmed the USA authorities from a 2019 rally. The picture shows:
-President Major General Buhari(Rtd),
-Governor Bagudu
-Attorney General Malumi.

The Department of Justice said in a February 3 statement that Bagudu, 58, was part of a network controlled by Abacha that “embezzled, misappropriated and extorted billions from the government of Nigeria.”

After Bagudu successfully sued Nigeria for violating the 2003 settlement, Buhari’s administration reached a new agreement with him in October 2018, according to the court filings.

That would result in the transfer of ownership of the investment portfolios, worth $155m to the Nigerian state, which would then pay 98.5 million euros to Bagudu and his affiliates, according to Bates’ December 23 opinion.

It may also be a story to divert attention from the pains of ThiefNuibu's reckless looting of our commonwealth as he is doing in Lagos since 1999.

If that amount was used for the purpose that it should the money was awarded, would the people of Yobe not be enjoying the benefit by now? This is very disgusting to read. If all the looted funds over the years were properly applied, would Nigerians be struggling to run away to other countries?

We must get to the point our country where death penalty should be the punishment for looting of the common patrimony. We all know that it is a taboo in China to embezzle public funds. Those who looted paid the amounts and paid with their lives too.

Our politicians will never agree with death penalty, but the citizens must take it as their responsibility to push these crooks in the garment of politics.
