A Jigawa High Court yesterday ordered the remand of Sani Maje Saleh till August 4, 2009 when the case for allegedly raping and impregnanting his sister-in-law Rahama Abdullahi will come up for hearing.

As a psychologist, i sympathise with the little girl, sexual assault of all sort does injury to justice and reason, for it deeply wounds the respect, freedom and physical and moral integrity to which every person has a right. It causes great damage that can mark the victim for life.

Every day we hear of case of same sort, but one begins to wonder if the perpetrators are from the moon. But you will be surprised, sexual abuse can occur within the family (by a parent, step-parent, guardian, older sibling, or a relative) or outside the family (often by a person well known by the child and family)

Till date, psychologist are still trying to study factors which may lessen the impact of such abuse., but one thing we must know is that sexual abuse marks the victim for life, THAT IS WHY WE MUST WATCH OUR YOUNG ONES CAREFULLY.

you are 250% right about that. its starts at home from the very beginning. people need to let their children know whats right or wrong and that NO ONE should ever touch their "pee pee". i think many fall into the traps of these pedos because they just dont know. most would think that what they are doing is right or if it is from someone who has authority then they do think that they have to obey.
my young nephew already knows that NOBODY should ever touch his "pee pee" not the teacher, not the family friends, not the uncles/aunts nor the pastor N O B O D Y (apart from mum and dad).
