To all those ignorant folks including seun kuti saying Lagos isn't Yorubaland, this is the map of Lagos colony inside Nigeria in 1900. That they don't teach history in schools isn't an excuse not to make proper use of Google. Note that if Nigeria dissolves today and southwest becomes a nation. The default name it will take will be LAGOS before deciding on whatever name to call it. To the ignorant Gbadebo Rhodes-vivour denying his Yoruba heritage and forming too posh to speak Yoruba, someone should tell him that he became a product of Lagos because his ancestors could speak Yoruba. The British dumped his enslaved forefathers at the Lagos coast because the only African language they could speak was Yoruba. They were enslaved from the hinterlands of Yorubaland in modern day osun, Kwara and Oyo states. The fact that the white man recognised and acknowledge Lagos as a Yorubaland by relocating Yoruba speaking freed slaves to Lagos is a testament to the origin of Lagos. 5 Likes 1 Share

Actually, your map proves that Lagos is a no-man's land because Lagos is in a darker hue than the Yoruba region depicted. OP this is an own goal. 3 Likes |

HeartlessMan: The British established the colony of Lagos first. Then extended it to cover the rest of Yorubaland after the kiriji war. The new territory became the protectorate of Lagos. Learn your history. 2 Likes 1 Share |

HeartlessMan: The entire Yorubaland including Lagos was called the protectorate of Lagos by the British govt. from 1900 to 1906. I repeat if Nigeria dissolves today, southwest automatically assumes the title of Lagos before the citizens decides on what to call it. 1 Like 1 Share |
