I regret the action - Suspected cultist who killed final year ABSU student pleads for a second chance



Emmanuel Victor, a suspected cultist in the viral video depicting the killing of a final year student of Abia State University Uturu (ABSU), Emmanuel Uche, has confessed to why he killed the victim and pleaded for a second chance. 

 

Victor, a 500-level Optometry student of the same institution, confessed to the crime when he was paraded alongside 110 other suspects at the Abia State Police Headquarters in Umuahia on Sunday.

 

Spokesperson of the command, ASP Maureen Chinaka, said a team of police detectives from Abia State Police Command, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended the principal suspect at Isiukwuato. 

 

Speaking to newsmen, the suspect claimed that the deceased, Uche, was a member of a rival cult group

 

“I am here because I committed murder. I actually killed Emmanuel Uche. He is from Mbaitolu in Imo State and based in Port Harcourt,” he said.

 

"I am a student of Abia State University, Uturu and studying Optometry, level 500. I killed him. He is a member of another cult group that came to pick up a phone from us.

 

"After we finished talking, we told them that they should come back later in the day to pick up the phone. One of Emmanuel’s members, that is the one I shot at, escalated and then I shot him in the leg.

 

“I do regret the action. A day before that day, they came looking for one of my members. That night, my member was walking around their lodge and saw one of them. Then he took the phone from them and brought it to his own lodge. The next day, when they came back to take their phone, the thing happened." 

 

He pleaded for a second chance, claiming that this was his first time killing somebody.

It is not making sense. It looks like he is confessing against himself under duress.

Oga, there was a video made of the execution of the late guy by his brethren which got leaked and he was IDed as the main hatchet man which led to his quick apprehension by the police. There's incontrovertible evidence against him and that was what gave rise to my original comment which I related to the politicians that are undeniably guilty of embezzlement but never got the tag of looters despite obvious pointers and evidence of the looting.

The video was not even clear enough to ID anyone.

Thank God he was caught because this guy could have killed many people under the cover of an optometrist.

His action caught on camera was a blow to the Abia Police command and when Police means to get to the roots of a case that impacts their reputation, they will surely get it resolved especially when it scores a political point for the new Governor who wants to show that the Security apparatus of his state is funtional. From the day I saw that video, I said this guy is done, he will be fished out and dealt with, no matter who he is, even if he is the Governor's son. It was a brazen affront to the police and the state government.
