When I see people from other parts of the country shouting"Niger Delta region" means nothing and the people from the region should reject the name.
I begin to wonder why the name hurts you more than it hurts the real people who stays in the region.
Most of us will still enjoy the name and be proud of it if oil finishes today and Nigeria still remain as one country. It helps the minority to have a sense of individuality, it's a place where we can breath air without having our voice suppressed totally.
When people say there is no tribe called Niger Delta, then I wonder if they have a hidden agenda to annex us into one tribe and suffocate us with their numbers.
Even if we join igbo, Yoruba or Hausa, the fact is that we will still not be one tribe, you can't miraculously make us one tribe overnight. so it's better to just let the Niger Delta be what they want to be. We are not a threat to anyone's existence abeg.

We love the name and it shouldn't hurt anyone. Make everybody deh him deh
