Contradictions about Judas's death and Field of Blood! by AbuTwins: 8:37am On May 15
Judas Iscariot was the disciple of Jesus who betrayed him in the Bible. Jesus did promise him and other disciples rulership with him on thrones but i still wonder why he could betray him after such great promise!

Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. Matthew 19:28

Judas in the Gospels
Matthew:
In the Gospel of Matthew, Judas agrees to betray Jesus to the chief priests for thirty pieces of silver. He identifies Jesus to the authorities by kissing him, a signal of betrayal. After Jesus is arrested, Judas regrets his actions, returns the silver, and then goes out and hangs himself.

Mark:
The Gospel of Mark also portrays Judas as the one who betrays Jesus to the religious authorities. Judas arranges to hand Jesus over to them with a kiss. However, Mark does not provide details about Judas' fate after the betrayal.

Luke:
In Luke's Gospel, Judas agrees to betray Jesus and identifies him to the authorities with a kiss. After Jesus is arrested, Judas realizes the gravity of his actions and attempts to return the money. The religious leaders refuse to take the money back, and Judas throws the coins into the temple before going out to hang himself.

John:
The Gospel of John also narrates Judas' betrayal of Jesus. Judas is depicted as the one who betrays Jesus by identifying him with a kiss. After Jesus' arrest, Judas is not mentioned as returning the money as in the other Gospels. Instead, John's Gospel focuses more on the interaction between Jesus and Judas during the Last Supper, highlighting Jesus' foreknowledge of the betrayal.
...........................................................................................
Gospel of Luke:
In the Gospel of Luke (Luke 22:3-6, 47-48), it is mentioned that Judas betrayed Jesus and then went on to regret his actions. Judas returns the silver to the chief priests and elders, and then in remorse, he goes out and hangs himself. This narrative in Luke's Gospel presents a straightforward account of Judas' death by suicide.

Book of Acts also allegedly written by Luke:
In the Book of Acts (Acts 1:18-19), there is a different description of Judas' death, which is more graphic and symbolic. It states that Judas acquired a field with the reward of his wickedness, fell headlong, and his body burst open, spilling out his intestines. This depiction does not align with the more straightforward hanging mentioned in the Gospel of Luke.

How can Luke write two different accounts of death for one person? lipsrsealed
.............................................................................................
Field of Blood
The discrepancy regarding the field where Judas hanged himself and why it is called the "Field of Blood" is found in the accounts of Judas' death in the Gospel of Matthew and the Book of Acts. Here is an explanation of this apparent contradiction:

Gospel of Matthew:
In Matthew 27:3-8, it is mentioned that after Judas remorsefully returns the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, they use the money to buy the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners. This field came to be known as the Field of Blood because it was purchased with blood money (the price paid for betraying Jesus) and associated with Judas' betrayal and subsequent death.

Book of Acts:
In Acts 1:18-19, it is stated that Judas acquired a field with the reward of his wickedness, fell headlong, and his body burst open, spilling out his intestines. This field is also referred to as the Field of Blood in this account, but the emphasis is on the violent and graphic nature of Judas' death rather than the purchase of the field with the money he received for betraying Jesus.

Again I am asking you, what do think is the reason for the differences?
Or what let me help you, what are Synoptic Gospels?

When four people tells the same story with marked differences decades from when the events happened then your forebrain should tell you something is wrong somewhere!

You can check Google for synoptic Gospels if you don't know!

So if you have a group of four people that witness an event, and each is to write a report, you expect them to write same things with the same words.

You are a potato.

If they are writing as did Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, then they I'd suspect extreme forgery!

No one expects the same thing! But there shouldn't be marked differences like these!

Lie, each would report due to interest and perception. That they must write same things is a lie. Have ever written a report in your school or better still a report on joint project in which each was to submit individual write -uo?
You are not honest.

So tell us how Judas died!

Still the records may not be the same. What is important is that he died for his sin. Not only that, the report of how he did is the same but partly reported by the reporters.

How does that relate to the topic?

You have a good point. But let me paint you an imaginary scenario. If there are 2 witnesses to a fatal accident and each witness is to give a good detail of where, how and who is involved in the accident. Supposed witness A narrates that the accident happens in Ikeja, Lagos. And that the car's brakes failed leading to crashing into a building. And that the accident involves a young man.
B says that the accident occurs in Lekki, Lagos. And that the driver overspeeds and rams into a trailer, leading to death. And that the accident involves an old man.
Going by these separate accounts, don't you think there is something wrong somewhere.
Of course, people's accounts are not meant to be the same with respect to words. However, the must convey same message about the people involved, what happens, how it happens and where it happens.
The biblical narrators of Judas's story messages are entirely different with respect to the basic elements necessary when writing a report. Each is telling a different story about the end of Judas. So their messages are not reliable.

If a sniper shoots a man sitting on the balcony of a story building and the man falls to the ground and crashes
Which story is true?

He was shot dead
He fell and crashed and died

If someone drowns in a sea and he is eaten by a fish, which story is true
He drowned and died or a fish killed him?

Judas hung himself in a field. Evidently, the rope was not strong enough and he fell headlong and his insides burst open

Before you ask me to use my brain, tell us which account is true in each of the following instances!

Here is a comparison of the trials of Jesus as depicted in each Gospel:

Before the Sanhedrin:
Matthew: Jesus is brought to Caiaphas first, then to the full Sanhedrin.
Mark: Jesus is brought directly to the house of the high priest.
Luke: The Sanhedrin assembly is not explicitly mentioned.
John: Jesus is brought to Annas first, then to Caiaphas.

Charges:
Matthew: The false witnesses accuse Jesus of threatening to destroy the temple.
Mark: The witnesses' testimonies are inconsistent and do not agree.
Luke: The witnesses' testimonies are not recorded.
John: Jesus is questioned about His disciples and His teachings.

Peter's Denial:
Matthew: Peter denies Jesus three times before the rooster crows.
Mark: Peter denies Jesus three times before the rooster crows twice.
Luke: Peter denies Jesus three times before the rooster crows.
John: Peter's denial is included, but the rooster's crowing is not mentioned.

Interrogation by Pilate:
Matthew: Pilate asks Jesus if He is the King of the Jews.
Mark: Pilate asks Jesus if He is the King of the Jews.
Luke: Pilate asks Jesus if He is the King of the Jews.
John: Pilate has a private conversation with Jesus about His kingdom.

Role of Herod:
Matthew: Herod questions Jesus but sends Him back to Pilate.
Mark: Herod and Pilate become friends during Jesus' trial.
Luke: Herod questions Jesus, and his soldiers mock Him.
John: Herod questions Jesus and mocks Him with his soldiers.

Final Verdict:
Matthew: Pilate washes his hands, declaring Jesus innocent.
Mark: Pilate releases Barabbas instead of Jesus.
Luke: Pilate finds no guilt in Jesus but yields to the crowd's demands.
John: Pilate tries to release Jesus, but the crowd insists on crucifixion.

The rebuttal to your first claim is found right there in the same passage which you lifted that verse from. In Matthew 19 vs 27, Peter described the followers of Jesus Christ as those who have abandoned all in order to follow Him.
27 Peter said to him, “We left everything we had and followed you. So what will we have?”
28 Jesus said to them, “When the time of the new world comes, the Son of Man will sit on his great and glorious throne. And I can promise that you who followed me will sit on twelve thrones, and you will judge the twelve tribes of Israel. - Matthew 19 vs 27 vs 28
Judas was not known to have left everything to follow Jesus Christ.(Judas was busy stealing something for himself from the purse.) This, I am afraid does not contradict the Gospel of Jesus Christ. undecided

All these seeming differences just prove one thing that blind critics won't see - the writers of the NT did not get together in one place and copy each other.
All they wrote is based on what they saw or got.

If a principal enters a class where students were fighting, why is it that he does not ask just a student about what happened but four or 5 or even the entire class?
This one can say Tolu slapped Tope and fight started
That one can say Tope threw a pen at Tolu and fight started
That one could say that Tolu insulted Tope father fight started
Another one could say they had a grudge since the previous day and it was not settled even that same morning and it led to a fight. That is where the principal can connect the dots.

If I say that Abutwins fought the police and he was taken to court
Someone says that police stopped Abutwins and took him to jail
Someone said that Abutwins was arrested for oversleeding and sentenced to 3 months imprisonment
Someone said that Abutwins was arrested and taken to a cell, then taken to a court and sentenced to jail for few months

All these are different stories but they are not necessarily false

Students are kids. They can lie. Fear can also make them say what they don't mean! And some may not be able to articulate their message appropriately.

Lemme change it na
Imagine your were the principal of an Islamic school and there was a fight and you ask what happened and all the students swore in the name of Allah and that Aisha husband and they gave all that testimony, are they lying
Reports of an incident even in modern times will definitely have differences in their accounts. Matthew and Luke talked about the birth of Christ. Mark and John didn't begin that way. They all did not give the same thing. Mark first account of Jesus miracle was healing a demonised man but John explicitly said his miracle at a wedding in Cana was his first. Matthew and Luke mentions the temptation of Jesus Christ... I have not seen you drop any contradicting reports... A reasonable Muslim can even connect the dots to get a clearer picture. Luke mentions an account of Jesus when he was 12 year's old. Matthew mentioned the visit of the Magi. John talked about the Samaritan woman... John himself said that he feels that the world cannot talk about the life of Jesus Christ

Instead of using your sense, go and educate us on why any sane person should accept the words from a book of abrogation, scientifically inaccurate and contradict itself...

Actually we don't swear in the name of Allah and any other human!
Allah alone!

So na Pankere them go chop!

All this you wrote still doesn't explain why there are differences in the Gospels:

Here is a comparison of the trials of Jesus as depicted in each Gospel:

- **Before the Sanhedrin**:
- **Matthew**: Jesus is brought to Caiaphas first, then to the full Sanhedrin.
- **Mark**: Jesus is brought directly to the house of the high priest.
- **Luke**: The Sanhedrin assembly is not explicitly mentioned.
- **John**: Jesus is brought to Annas first, then to Caiaphas.

- **Charges**:
- **Matthew**: The false witnesses accuse Jesus of threatening to destroy the temple.
- **Mark**: The witnesses' testimonies are inconsistent and do not agree.
- **Luke**: The witnesses' testimonies are not recorded.
- **John**: Jesus is questioned about His disciples and His teachings.

- **Peter's Denial**:
- **Matthew**: Peter denies Jesus three times before the rooster crows.
- **Mark**: Peter denies Jesus three times before the rooster crows twice.
- **Luke**: Peter denies Jesus three times before the rooster crows.
- **John**: Peter's denial is included, but the rooster's crowing is not mentioned.

- **Interrogation by Pilate**:
- **Matthew**: Pilate asks Jesus if He is the King of the Jews.
- **Mark**: Pilate asks Jesus if He is the King of the Jews.
- **Luke**: Pilate asks Jesus if He is the King of the Jews.
- **John**: Pilate has a private conversation with Jesus about His kingdom.

- **Role of Herod**:
- **Matthew**: Herod questions Jesus but sends Him back to Pilate.
- **Mark**: Herod and Pilate become friends during Jesus' trial.
- **Luke**: Herod questions Jesus, and his soldiers mock Him.
- **John**: Herod questions Jesus and mocks Him with his soldiers.

- **Final Verdict**:
- **Matthew**: Pilate washes his hands, declaring Jesus innocent.
- **Mark**: Pilate releases Barabbas instead of Jesus.
- **Luke**: Pilate finds no guilt in Jesus but yields to the crowd's demands.
- **John**: Pilate tries to release Jesus, but the crowd insists on crucifixion.

■ So can you tell me the 12th disciple Jesus promised to rule with him or Jesus made another blunder?
Your major problem, same as that of the Christians before you, is that you think it makes sense to inject your privately held delusions between the lines of Scripture as if some unwritten rule you are to adhere to no matter what and are convinced it makes sense to do it. I am afraid it is the ultra mark of the ignorant and deluded. grin

Jesus Christ's response clearly did not indicate that it was only His first 12 disciples who had followed Him and He never said only the first 12 would sit on the thrones described. (He is recorded to have had at least 72 disciples in the same Gospel and about 500 at the time of His death.) So why would someone who at least went through and possibly completed even English comprehension courses in school jump to such a conclusion if not out of ignorance? undecided

Chai! See Kobo is coping and capping o!
Here is the context again:
“Look,” Peter replied, “we have left everything to follow You. What then will there be for us?” Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, in the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. Matthew 19:27-28

More so, the apostles Jesus appointed and sent out were just 12 in Matthew 10:2-4
These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

Jesus specifically told Peter on his asking!

Stop capping and coping!

In the name of your Allah and Aisha husband who lustfully took in a child aged 6 when he was about 53 years old..., the accounts of the 4 gospel writers have differences and that is not unexpected. Where's any contradictions?
Even if you listen to a story from different reputable news Media, you'll still notice differences.

Not only are you the one doing the capping and coping but also cherry-picking in a desperate attempt to make sense of what you realize by now does not!

Peter asked the question he did about those of them who had left everything to follow Him, not the first 12 disciples alone. We is a reference directly by Peter to merely the first 12 but instead to those of them who have abandoned everything to follow Jesus Christ. The first 12 disciples recorded in Scripture were not the only ones who were expected to do so since EVERY SINGLE one who wishes to follow Jesus Christ is required by Jesus Christ to do the same. undecided

You religious individuals are very easy to read. grin

The context of the verses says nothing of 12 disciples! Your attempt to inject that into the context is rather what fails here. grin

Jesus was talking to Peter and the others! They were 12. And there was no one else with them!

This is not about being religious! You're just being dogmatic on error!
