Yepee! I was finally able to solve the react issue. I had to install an updated version of nodejs. I also set the registry something something. Funny enough Airtel and MTN didn't work. Na Glo wey I no expect later work. Will prob write an article on how I solved the issue this week on hashnode. Didn't meet my reading target yesterday, today we go harder.

Meanwhile have started watching the netNinja video, it has been smooth sailing ever since.
Re: I Want To Work At Google: Journey Of A Software Developer by AlchemyOfCodes: 8:09am On Sep 27, 2022
I applied for the HNG internship track on frontend yesterday. Me wey I just start to dey watch net Ninja video. I will probably get kicked out LOL grin. I also applied for Microsoft power... for no code tools. I also applied for zuri training...easy tiger...you will probably get overwhelmed at this point...yes I know no pressure though ... I don't plan on taking everything up at once... Some of these programs are part of my networking goals.

Yeah! Have finished Mosh hamedani course on Java, the introductory aspect though. Started hackerrank and was able to solve a question.... With a little bit of googling LOL grin. At least I was able to understand the code. Never thought would be able pick up the basics of java this fast. The knowledge of JavaScript definitely helped.

Concerning the DSA course, am stuck on an assignment. The question is easy though...I couldn't wrap my head around the instructions or maybe I was too eager to read and understand.

Finally, started my 100daysofcodechallenge on Twitter today, will be focusing on react for now.

React and DSA
Already learnt the basics of JavaScript, the book am reading on JS is just for understanding mostly OOP concepts in JS.
Carry on bro, you're doing well!
Re: I Want To Work At Google: Journey Of A Software Developer by AlchemyOfCodes: 6:50pm On Sep 28, 2022
Yeah! Today has really been a busy day for me. I learnt about components, state and props in react today. I also read on the Java library. Seriously, i cant wait to get past this stage of tutorial hell so I can start building projects. Meanwhile, am stuck on an error in react about getting data from the JSON file. If i dont get it fixed this night, I will send a snapshot of the error here.

The DSA course dey carry me where I know no oo. Will probably have to take things a bit slow. Yes, I will start drafting my first article on hashnode this night. Hopefully, I will also complete the React course this night or latest by tomorrow. Lastly, special thanks to NEPA for cooperating with me, really hope the light thing continues like this. cool

Turns out I couldn't achieve any of my aim yesterday. Ran into another bug again after solving the first issue. Hope to solve the issue this night. I have been feeling unwell lately..I need to take a lot of rest.

Anyways I was still able to cover some ground in reacts, 6 more short videos to go and the real learning begins....will start building projects. Already decided to build an E-commerce website... front end part for a start or what do you think?
Re: I Want To Work At Google: Journey Of A Software Developer by AlchemyOfCodes: 11:17am On Sep 30, 2022
Hey guys, I ran into another bug. React is pissing me off already. I will post the snapshot of the code below. I guess, I will have to suspend react till night when there will be light hopefully, can't be wasting petrol solving a bug. The last one thought me a bitter lesson, turns out that the bug I spent so much time working on was not worth it .......cos it was not a bug after all. Abeg seniors in the house, help me look into the bug.

Seems I am getting a hang of the DSA course now, although my Java skills are still very weak. Will be checking out the union find algorithm. Off I go.

Re: I Want To Work At Google: Journey Of A Software Developer by AlchemyOfCodes: 8:49pm On Sep 30, 2022
Just opened my vs code now and the code is working perfectly well grin... dont even know what is happening anymore. meanwhile watched more than 3 youtube videos on union find algorithm before I can even make sense out of this DSA course. Nobody told me DSA will be this hard cry already seeing things like djstraka algorithm ans suu something algorithm... see honestly these algorithms should be left for old men with long beards in dark rooms not for us who are just learning how to code.....me I dont have head for problems. undecided

Are you solving programming problems on your own as you're studying?
Re: I Want To Work At Google: Journey Of A Software Developer by AlchemyOfCodes: 9:42pm On Sep 30, 2022
Yes but I am only able to solve one basic hackerrank question so far.. I am just getting used to java syntax, writing codes with I is a little bit hard.

There was no light today.. so I spent more than half of today sleeping and the rest writing algorithm on a white board, teaching it to an imagined audience. Hope they bring the light soon.. pending the time will continue my java course on sololearn and also draft my first article on hashnode...and yeah will try to solve another basic hackerrank question today.

Already set a goal of wrting article each week so I won't let this week slip away. I finally decided that the article will be on props .. react. Will explain the concept as simple as I can. By God's grace, will be done tommorow and I will share a link here for review.

Like how much do you spend on data? This has been one of my major setback regarding this online learning sad

I use glo and Airtel... bought data of 1500 two weeks ago and there is little or nothing left. What I will advise is to do more of night plan since it is cheaper and that's if you are a night crawler. You can get 1G for just #100.

Yes I literally wasted today again watching rings of power and sleeping. The only good news is that I finished the net ninja react course. I have also downloaded a 3hrs tutorial on creating an E-commerce website and some random tutorials on to-do list, calculators and so on.

Will start the E-commerce store tutorial this night and let's see where it goes. Concerning the article on hashnode, I neva start but have downloaded some videos on props...I just really want to understand the concept so well that I can explain to a 5 year old kid. Will try to finish up this night.

Yeah I also applied to the American dream.. for Meta front end. Reason because my css skills are rusty

Yeah couldn't solve that hackerrank questions with java yesterday, could have easily done that with JavaScript. I just realized how hard life is with Java and some Dev said the syntax is beginner friendly
.

I will have to reset some of my goals this week. The reading of 50 pages of java and Js PDF clearly isn't working. Will reduce it to at least 10 each making a total of 20 pages each day. I realized I can't rush this programming thing. It takes time, I just have to trust the process.

Yo! Finally started the react project with a lot of adrenaline rushing through my blood veins. But, my excitement was short-lived, I could not install some package and dependencies needed for the project. I think is a Network thing though, I will be dumping Glo for Good when my data bundle expires.

Of course, I've got cheering news. I got my first star on hackerrank today. I solved a question without googling, I had to rush to post my answer in the comment section grin... Well they are basic questions a 12 year old geek will conveniently Ace .... yeah but it's ok to celebrate my little wins Right?

I also read 10 pages each of Head first Java and secret of the JavaScript Ninja.

I've got a lot of tasks to do this night day, I hope they bring this light soonest..though I still have some power on my laptop. Zuri is calling, Meta frontend is calling, and Java DSA course is also calling. My hands are also itching to practice what I've just learnt in react. This night is going to be a long one.

Ah yes! I enrolled for fullstack eweb Dev at Zuri. That means I will be adding PHP to my learning curve. I will definitely survive this.... Although I've completed the PHP course on Sololearn in the past when man gat no laptop...I guess the concept will not be entirely new to me.

I also think learning with books is a little bit underated, everybody wants to buy the latest hot course on Udemy. Hey, books are great too; when I started out with Java course on sololearn, everything thing looks like Greek to me. Yeah, I downloaded the Mosh Hamedani tutorial, but I knew it won't be enough without the premium course and I don't have the funds... guess what I did?

Went to my search bar and typed "best book to learn Java Quora". I got a ton of recommendation from quora but the name of a book kept repeating itself like a recurring decimal "Head first Java"; even in the comment section of Solo learn.

grin I quickly went to pdfdrive dot com to get the book and everything in Java began to make sense ever since.

Many prefer videos which is totally fine, but if you are just starting out.. Never underestimate the power of books especially if you don't have a Laptop. A lot of gems are on the pages of a book that an Udemy course will probably ask you to pay for.

Then, I will recommend learning Java first for those who want to have a strong background of OOP... If you have the time and resources, speak Java! You can never go wrong with this language. More importantly, you can't escape from object oriented programming. When you learn Java, you are simply learning OOP. OOP is Java and Java is OOP. My opinion though, am still learning....

You spoke my mind, the best way to get the hang of OOP in my opinion too is book. I struggled with it at first until I got the aforementioned book and consumed it. Though I had to read it twice before understanding the concepts well.

After finishing my first read, I practiced sometimes with it and I detect I'm still missing something, which prompted me to read it the second time and I caught the missing parts.

Okay guys, I finally fixed the network ish in the E-commerce project. I never even reach anywhere, I ran into another bug again. My components won't render on the screen. I think it has to tmdo with my webpack.config file. Seems I will have to delete my package modules or create another react app.
Re: I Want To Work At Google: Journey Of A Software Developer by AlchemyOfCodes: 7:14pm On Oct 04, 2022
I have installed XAMPP on my computer, and have started the zuri tutorials on PHP. Will dedicate the bulk of my time on PHP this night so I can catch up with the piling zuri tasks.

I was also able to meet my reading target today. And Yes I also solved an hackerrank question today.... Actually I didn't grin I checked the answer in the comments section.

The question was on multidimensional arrays. I actually dread questions on multidimensional arrays so when I saw the question, I decided not to waste my time. Went to the comment section, Ctr C and V sharp sharp grin

You probably be thinking, am not learning anything ....yeah I felt the same way..
You want to work at Google and you can't solve basic questions on hackerrank? grin

To make myself feel better, I tasked myself to come up with a better solution. The person solution I copied has a run time of O(n^2)... pretty slow right...... So I spent the rest of the day pacing up and down thinking of an efficient algorithm.

Boom, I finally came up with an algorithm with a runtime of O(n), I felt on top of the world. I had to read on multidimensional arrays on geektogeek website, understand it before I could come up with a solution. And Yes the knowledge of Arithmetic progression in Elementary Maths helped too.

At this point, I can say I understand multidimensional arrays to some extent... actually I don't. Well it's like that, sometimes I feel have gotten the hack to this array thingy. At some point I just feel lost. Anyways, we move.

Ok guys, today has been hectic for me. Couldn't do anything all day. I guess I have to dedicate the rest of the night to Java course. I started the course few weeks ago and I must confess, Java syntax is a bit messy.

Hopefully I will be able to complete the course tonight so I can start hackerrank tommorow when my laptop arrives.

Yo! Have been reading some contributions on how getting a degree in Ivy league schools can boost once chance of working at faang. I come from a biological science background, still an undergrad though; genetics to be precise. I am contemplating having my masters in computational biology since it is the closest to the programming field. What are your thoughts?
