Common symptoms of a Staphylococcus aureus infection depend on the type and location of the infection.

For skin infections, symptoms may include redness, swelling, warmth, and tenderness at the site, along with pus-filled lesions such as boils or abscesses. In more severe cases, the infection can cause fever, chills, and enlarged lymph nodes.

Staphylococcus aureus can also cause pneumonia, which may present with symptoms such as cough, chest pain, difficulty breathing, and fever.

In cases of food poisoning caused by Staphylococcus aureus, symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps.
