The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, said the average price paid by consumers for premium motor spirit (petrol) increased by 1.9% year-on-year and 0.3% month-on-month in September. According to the reports made available to Brand Spur Nigeria by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the price of petrol increased to N147.30 in September 2018 from N146.90 in August 2018.

The report reviewed states with the highest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) to include Enugu (N153.88), Taraba (N152.86) & Delta (N150.92). It also named Kano (N144.87), Katsina (N143.63) & Bauchi (N144.00) as states with the lowest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol).

According to the report, the average price paid by consumers for automotive gas oil (diesel) increased by 1.76% month-on-month and 14.52% year-on-year to N211.64 in September 2018 from to N207.98 in August 2018. It said the states with the highest average price of diesel were Borno (N245.83), Taraba (N235.00) and Sokoto (N228.33). It said the states with the lowest average price of diesel were Edo (N197.28), Katsina (N195.63) and Rivers (N190).

On National Household kerosene, the report noted that the average price per litre paid by consumers for kerosene also increased in the month under review.

According to the report, National Household Kerosene increased by 2.95% month-on-month and 12.40% year-on-year to N297.28 in September 2018 from N288.75 in August 2018.

"States with the highest average price per litre of kerosene were Abuja (N350.00) , Niger (N337.88), and Enugu (N344.67)."

"States with the lowest average price per litre of kerosene were Borno (N250.00), Abia & Kogi (N241.67) and Kwara (N235.28)"

Similarly, the average price per gallon paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene increased by 3.95% month-on-month and by 15.75% year-on-year to N1127.05in September 2018 from N1084.24 in August 2018.

The report noted that Ebonyi, Jigawa and Ekiti recorded the highest average price per gallon of kerosene of N1260.00, N1258.33 and N1253.33 respectively. It also noted the states with the lowest average price per gallon of kerosene were Benue (N1016.64), Bayelsa (N994.90) and Akwa Ibom (N956.01).

According to the report, the average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) increased by 2.60% month-on-month and 10.26% year-on-year to N2,107.48 in September 2018 from N2,054.14 in August 2018.

"States with the highest average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Bauchi (N2,400.00), Borno (N2,440.00) and Gombe (N2,487.50)."

"States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Abuja & Ebonyi (N1,900.00), Enugu (N1,865.45) and Kaduna (N1,800.00)."

Similarly, the average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) increased by 2.88% month-on-month and 8.00% year-on-year to N4,376.19 in September 2018 from N4,366.48 in August 2018.

Also, states with the highest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Akwa Ibom (N5,000.00), Benue (N4,881.25) and Borno (N4,666.67) while States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Kano & Kebbi (N4,033.33), Yobe (N4,015.81) and Lagos (N4,000.00).
