Please help my friend, he bought some ready to lay layer birds at 15 weeks old he gave them grower mash till 18 weeks then switched to layer mash entering 19weeks. Our surprise now is, he have been feeding for over 4 weeks now yet no one drop of egg.

� Could it be that the feeding pattern was wrong?
� Could it be that the seller of the POL was not truthful about their real age

Stop the chicken from taking postinor

Line the chickens up,search them for contraceptive,if non is found,search their cage and if you still find nothing then your chicken are homosexuals.

More inputs from experienced farmers is needed pls

That feed isn't layer,those feed sellers will sell you anything and claim it's anything.

They have been using topfeed [font=Lucida Sans Unicode][/font]

You shouldn't have switch to layer mash until they start laying eggs 5-10%....laying eggs is 20-22weeks....are U feeding them well?have they reach they d weight for laying 1.5kg?When buying POL get your weight chart so they dnt cheat you a 15wks POL should weight btw 1.290-1370kg.
Layers are sensitive to change of feed..U have to gradually introduce a new feed will U gradually eliminate the old feeds like 90%,80%,70%.......0% when mixing d new feed should be gradually increase till 100%
Get adequate training, knowledge b4 U venture into capital intensive & risky venture like poultry.

Can you show us the pictures of the layers and their house?

These are things that may make layers not to lay:

1. Poor Weight at maturity: if the weight below 1.5kg, they're likely not to lay.

2. Poor quality feed: poor quality feed does not gurantee laying, which feed brand are you using?

3. Insufficient daily feed intake: depending on the energy of your feed, a layer consumes between 112 to 120grams per day. Anything less than said is underfeeding.


Insufficient water intake: egg is made of water. if good drinking water is not always available, laying is not guaranteed.

Poor lighting system: if the poultry house is too dim during the day, it affects egg laying

Etc.
