You're saying this because you don't understand how addiction works. Rehabilitation clinics don't abruptly remove their drug addictef patients off drugs. What they do is to wean their bodies off the drugs by giving them reduced intakes while cleansing their system. Abruptly stopping an addiction will lead to a relapse 99% of the time

There are different types of addictions and it's not only drug. You're only focusing on drug aspect hence your submission.all addictions cannot be fought using the same method.

Masturbation is also an addiction(which will continue if you dont stop watching porn)

Must lustful acts are due to watching of porn.

Phone use is an addiction. Social media can be an addiction. Attention can be an addiction. Drinking can be an addiction.

He encouraged you to spend more time talking with God and continue with your addiction. He knows what time does to anything in life, with time and fervent dedication to the word of God, you will lose the addiction without knowing it. But trust Nigerians (porn addicts too) and their over righteousness to attack him while struggling with their limitations.

Reminds me when Pope Francis said that when a prostitute decides to use latex condoms with all her clients, that her salvation is near, people went on rampage. Imagine someone who didn't care about her life and safety but decided to take care of it, with time, she would understand that condoms aren't enough and eventually stop such lifestyle too
you are a very sound minded person. Almost in same frequency as that pastor, regardless of scriptural knowledge that pastor has dedicated time to learning, same as you. Lots of people are just commenting based on majority perception, they never reason for themselves.
not even the best rehab or therapist can profer this pragmatic and water tight solution that man easily dished out there, there are no better approach to any addiction than this. those that expects to stop a vehicle on a speed of 120 miles per hour with a sudden single step on the brakes are heading to six feets under.

It's either you're genuinely and honestly ignorant of how 'addictions' work, or perhaps you're just trying to be a holier-than-thou judgemental hypocrite (no offense intended please).

If you truly understand the dynamics of addictions, you would realise that it is practically impossible to stop an addiction overnight. What the person you quoted said is the truth; quite often if you try to stop an addiction overnight, you typically relapse into a worse form of the same addiction. Practical therapies against addictions (be it drugs or alcoholism etc) usually employ the method of substitution, i.e. gradually substitute the substance of the addiction with something else which is less harmful, until the addiction dies away.

Question is, all your struggle and promises and determination, how has it helped you? Instead of focusing on the sin, focus on Jesus. Looking unto Jesus is the way... The moment we focus our energy on our weakness and not on Christ, we become overpowered by those sin and struggles. Reading the bible and prayer is the way to focus on Jesus...

He didn't deliver the point well, but his point is "Looking unto Jesus, the Author and finisher of our faith".

The only issue with sin is it always makes you remove your eyes from Jesus because of guilt. I can tell you for free that the desire to study the word of God or pray goes away because of guilt. That's the battle. This is where knowledge comes in. Like the prodigal son, you must remember you have a Father and his love and Mercy is beyond comprehension. You must always arise and never remain in the rot. Porn addiction is a serious battle as it enslaves the brain. Study the word of God to help you gain knowledge of who you are in Christ as that helps you grow and defeat those passions and desires

Oga, I'm not expecting that you turn into an angel overnight. I'm not just talking I too have dealt with addictions. When you want to stop an addiction, you must first identify your triggers so as to avoid it and not have a relapse. I didnt claim to be heavens gate keeper. It's not really thier fault if you look at it, alot of churches are not teaching her congregation Christ, Abel Damina ministry is one of the few in Nigeria that does. Instead churches are teaching believers to be sin conscious instead of to be Christ conscious. His approach is really the best way to deal with addiction but they don't know.
Funny thing is that the most of the people criticizing him are deep into "bigger" sins like fornication and Adultery even the soo called "holy" pastors are not exempted. I laugh anytime i listen to their self righteous preachings.

Christ consciousness is the best consciousness to be in i swear. The holy Spirit will now finish the heavenly work.

the solution he offered is the best ......he simply highligted that you need an higher power to live above sin which he said its by you spending time with the word for 3hrs .....Mehn if you that for 3weeks something must happen a light must enter to displace the darkness.....its emphasis is on the word not just asking people to stop which has been propagated for many years only for people to still device covert mearns to indulge in even worse vices than porn.....My brother flee from all youthful lust is always what they say but they dont always emphasize follow after them seek God with a pure heart ....Nature harbors no vacuum if there is a fleeing there must be a following if not if we say only flee its not going to solve any thing its a partial antidote to the problem

Bible never said JESUS Christ was a prophet. It says the "voice of God" according to Genesis and Qur'an, God created the world by His Word. Literally, the Word of God is God which is JESUS Christ. The fake prophets Jesus was referring to was Muhammed, who came 600years after Christ to kill, steal and to destroy as we see in Muslim settlements today, leading millions to hell.

He is very correct, every sincere person knows that, you can't stop porn miraculously over night. Even smokers are given nicotine gums on their way to quit smoking. Gradually removing the need to watch porn while at the same time gradually replacing the void with the word of God. Excellent therapy.
