Sending parcels interstate in Nigeria was always an adventure. Amaka had debated using the familiar “park boys” – men who transported goods on interstate buses traveling the country. But horror stories of lost packages and damaged goods made her reconsider. This time, it was her sister’s special day, and nothing could go wrong.

Amaka stood sweating slightly in the bustling Lagos market. Balanced precariously on a plastic crate were two large, brightly wrapped parcels. Inside, nestled amongst layers of soft tissue paper, were her most prized possessions: hand-woven Aso Ebi attire for her younger sister’s upcoming wedding in Kano.

She opted for a reputable delivery company recommended by a friend. The air-conditioned office was a welcome relief from the Lagos heat. A young man with a friendly smile greeted her. After carefully weighing the parcels and checking the Kano address, he quoted a price. Amaka winced – it was a hefty chunk of her savings, but the worry lines on her forehead smoothed out. Safe delivery was worth it.

In this post, we have helped other people, like Amaka, who might be thinking of sending an interstate package. Interstate delivery costs in 2024 typically range from ₦2,000 to ₦15,000 per parcel weighing 5kg or less. This covers various items such as food, phones, small chops, gadgets, and accessories. Delivery times vary from 3 to 14 days, depending on the destination and item size. Heavier items incur higher costs and may take longer to deliver. Note that not all delivery companies offer interstate services due to distance, and those that do may have higher rates.
